My father once told me "If you're doin' it right, the world could be falling down around you, and you'd be alright." I think the same basic idea is goin' on here. With Jah, you're prepared for the worst, no matter who's comin' for ya. |

The line "You’ll never take what’s been given to us" reminded me of how so many people are/have been trying so tirelessly to take away Israel's land. I'm not sure if that goes in with the rest of the song, but that just jumped out at me when I heard that lyric.
Also, hbreakid, I agree with your interpretation.
About ForgottenAngel17's comment, I think that's just one more great thing about P.O.D. I heard in an interview that they make an effort for their songs to be heard as the listener wants to hear them. Their music is just so versatile. Reminds me of Luke 8:8-10, which says this:
8And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
9And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?
10And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. |

I think the "she" might be the bride of Christ (not that Da Vinci Code crap; the followers of Jesus). But I really don't know for sure. It's just a guess. |

This song is truly amazing. It literally changed my life by bringing me closer to my God and further from depression. Currently the first song on my worship playlist =)
As for meaning, I think it's pretty obvious. The sooner you come to know Jah, the better. |

No, Sonny is not Rasta. That's a VERY common misconception. I think he mentions Haile because people so often accuse him of being Rasta, and is saying that he believes he was a king/emperor/etc., not a god. |

I love this song so much. I used to hate it, but then I really got into a relationship with God, and it meant SOOO much more to me.
Podbass881, I think you described the meaning of the song perfectly. It's really simple and is basically summed up by "sonny is referring to God's dwelling place with His people." |

This might be a really stupid idea (especially since I mostly just took the "One woman for me ..." part into consideration), but could he be singing from Jesus' perspective and be referring to the Bride of Christ (the church) when he talks about the woman? Like I said, I didn't really read far into it, so this could be a really stupid idea, so please don't flame me =) |

Meursaultsrevolver, if God is fictional, why is it so important that you make everyone believe that? Has your nothingness commanded you to bring people to it? Won't the same exact thing happen if everyone believes in God as it would if no one did if you were correct? Are you just being a child who demands everyone believe the same as you because you're the center of everyone's thoughts? You have some growing up to do, because adults know of a thing called respect. You, apparently, do not.
Oh yeah...nice song. I don't think there's anything else I could say about it that hasn't already been mentioned. |

In the Payable on Death Live album, he says something about M.C. Jake, so I think that might be the guy singing who isn't Sonny.
In the video packed in with B.R.O.W.N. Special Edition, it's funny how Sonny is always telling people in the crowd to relax, and on the Breathe Babylon video, he says, "Hey, you guys, relax, man. I'ma come down there myself, and straighten you out." I crack up every time I watch that part =) |

Thank you, Wake to Life. I'm so tired of people trying to tear down P.O.D. when they could spend that time raising up and praising God =( |

Macman2511, payable on death is a banking term with a definition resembling the whole Christ dying for our sins thing. Sounds pretty Christian to me ;) |

I love this song. It really is great. I remember when I was younger I'd love "singing" along with it when Sonny did the evil laugh dealy =)
Anyways, I was stumped by this song for a long time, but I've stuck to my first interpretation which is that it's talking about the rapture. I know "boys from the south" could easily be referring to the members of the band since they live in south CA and all, but I think it might also be speaking of Lucifer's angels coming back for one final turn on the earth during the period of tribulation. And what better term to describe the end of times than "BOOM!"?
P.O.D. is, and possibly always will be, my absolute favorite band above all others =) |

I heard this song was entirely stemmed from a sitting in which the band and a woman whose association with the band I've forgotten were talking about how the woman's child had been killed in some disaster brought on by another man. I don't really understand how the lyrics fit in that way, but that's what I heard =) |

I second that, Truby. 'Cept I'll bash his face with my bass. It's heavier than a guitar ;)
I mean really, is it entirely necessary to act like a prick if you just don't like a song? |
