Built to Spill – Things Fall Apart Lyrics 12 years ago
Seems to be a personal apocalypse, given the oft-quoted line borrowed from Yeats' "The Second Coming". Agreed with thatoneguy82101 that it's hard not to see meaning in this song, notwithstanding Doug's comment.

Personally, it makes me think of a break-up. Getting over someone, and particularly when the relationship turns obsessive, "you're not even welcome in my memories".

I fail to understand "meekness of love or the power of pride".

Isn't it "What a feeling; what a feeling for a dog"?

Frightened Rabbit – The Modern Leper Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is number 78 on Pitchfork's "100 Best Tracks of 2008." Here's the post:

Driving chords propelling ever forward towards cathartic crescendo. A sprightly, fiddle-like counter-melody. Yearning vocals that aim heavenward: Most of the time, these are the ingredients for an uplifting anthem, the kind of thing fans pack stadiums to sing along to with their arms around each other. With different lyrics, "The Modern Leper" could have the potential to turn the Scots in Frightened Rabbit into Coldplay, or at least Snow Patrol. But this is not a happy tune. Oh no. It's wretched. Lead Rabbit Scott Hutchison compares emotional debilitation (possibly alcohol-induced) with physical handicap, wondering how the hell anyone could ever love him: "Is that you in front of me/ Coming back for even more of exactly the same/ You must be a masochist/ To love a modern leper on his last leg." No, Scott, we aren't masochists. We're just seduced by the song.

Is sauvignon in no way similar to sauvage? No. French may be your first language but as a former cellarhand I can assure you that sauvignon refers to the wild nature of the vine itself--it would grow like a weed if left alone. It's the historic derivation of the word.

Does sauvignon mean wine in the song? Most likely, yet as I said before, not necessarily.

I think that's a great analysis, sleep forever. It's a moving song. I would like to point out that "sauvignon" comes from the French word sauvage, meaning wild. The use of the word doesn't necessarily imply wine, aeonie.
