| Talking Heads – This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| This is exactly what I thought the song meant too. As I was reading all the previous comments I thought about how idealistic people were being about this song, or should I say naive... I mean people even played this at their weddings, which made me cringe for them. It reminded me of when an ex-boyfriend had played the song "You Can't Always Get What you Want" by the Rolling Stones to me as a profession of love. Oye vey. | |

I think this song is about loving someone in all their different "lights" aka colors. But, I'm thinking this person she is singing to doesn't know how to love. They were never vulnerable with her as she was with them. All he sees/loves in is "red" or I think means sex/lust. The one trick pony part to me means that she's tired of everything else he's lacking that the only thing he did right to keep her there just isn't enough anymore. I love you like a mother even after all she's done. Now this part changes in the beginning she says "I loved you like a mother, even after all YOU'VE done, then later at the end she says "I loved you like a mother, even after all SHE's done." So first I would say it's about unconditional love. She will always forgive him and will still be there for him, but it can't be anything more due to his lack of emotional range. And If you watch the video to "Girl Anachronism" there are parts in there with a "Mother" making excuses for her "crazy" daughter and from some of Amanda's other songs I kinda got the feeling that her Mother never "got her" or perhaps didn't believe her and treated her poorly. So perhaps that was a small hit on how she forgave and still loves her mom even after she's done to her. |

| Radiohead – House of Cards Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I thought this song was pretty straight forward. I guess not, everyone's interpretations are all so different. "I don't wanna be your friend, I just wanna be your lover" Well that seems pretty self-explanitory to me. He is in love with a married woman who is also in love with him. He is telling her to abandon her fears or her "house of cards" as he will his. She fears losing everything and her world falling down around her if she does give in to her feelings for him. So she pretends she doesn't want a deeper relationship that they are just "friends". Which he calls her out on by the whole "denial" part. t the idiom "Your ears must be burning" is for when someone is talking about you, so the girl in the song he is singing about should know it's about her. |

"Your balls are turning blue" pretty much sums up the song's meaning to me. Obviously someone isn't putting out. I think even though the song is in first person so it sounds like the guy isn't putting out, I really think it's the other way around. He's trying to mold himself into what she's into just to get in her pants. And she sees through his whole plan. |

| Melissa Ferrick – Drive Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think even though the lyrics are ment to be about two women, the raw emotion of the song can connect with any gender. The way she sings with the tone of slow seduction would get anyone thinking about fucking someones brains out. Mmm Hmm. | |
| The Dresden Dolls – Delilah Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I'd hope to god that is song isn't as shallow to be about a friend. However, I believe it's much more clever than that. I think the word "schizo" says it all. Amanada and Delilah are one in the same. The name Delilah actually means "weak or poor"....maybe that part of her is her weakness. I believe "Amanda" knows better but the "Delilah" in her can't help herself and is self-destructive. So she is having an inner agrument/struggle with herself. |

| The Bird and the Bee – Again & Again Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I take that back, there seems to be an awful lot of meanings behind the peacock. The Peacock also represents pride. Hmm, prehaps their pride is getting in the way of having an open relationship. Neither will open up first and say how they really feel. | |

I think it's about a secret relationship. The video sheds some light on this too. There is a lot of symbolism, such as the white peacock on the piano, which I found can represent Fidelity. "It's a shame, it's a shame It's a perfect shame Creep under my door and we do it again, oh It's easy and easy and easy and easy And creepy and creepy and creepy, oh Again, again, again, again" Sounds like it's too bad that they can't have their relationship out in the open for some reason and they have to creep around behind everyone's backs, which is easier than making it public and possibly causing problems. In the video they are together, but yet they act like they aren't. "ay my name, say my name, say my stupid name It's stupid how we always seem to do it again, oh You're so stupid and perfect And stupid and perfect I hate you, I want you I hate you, I hate you, oh Again, again, again, again" I think this part is about the whole tug of war of not being able to have someone fully, and hating them for it, yet you still want them. And since they can't be together and have to act like they barely know one another, she just wants something, anything like something as simple as her name just to know that they are together and he knows and wants her. And this is their cycle, they just keep going around &around without the relationship being able to go any further, because they don't allow it. |

| 8mm – Liar Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think she is in love and pretends not to be. And acts like whatever he does doesn't hurt or affect her in order to protect herself from her true feelings for him. She even shrugs off the fact that she was ever in love with him, saying how she was just in love with the thought of someone loving her. "Giving up her wings they were only wax and string" I think is about how she see's him as her angel or savior, but it was all in her head and it wasn't real in the end. | |
| Björk – Human Behaviour Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think this song is about being hurt and confused but still loving it. "Humans" are confusing folk, we try and figure each other out, but just end up more confused in the end. And yet we keep coming back for more... | |
| Björk – Where Is the Line Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think this song is about giving of yourself and the other person on the recieving end is never satisfied. And is always wanting more from you. Or possibly they just don't give back. So, how far is one willing to bend over backwards until they have had enough. | |
| Björk – Pluto Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Pluto is another name for Hades the god of the underworld or "death". I think this song is about change. It's a feeling inside of just wanting to get rid of everything you were before and being reborn. | |
| Nine Inch Nails – Only Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think this song is about falling in love with someone you made up in your head. As in you assumed too much about someone and then realized it was all just in your head. And you've been focusing all your attention and efforts onto this person that you've neglected yourself and have become lost, because they are unresponsive or have been giving you mixed messages. And the "scab" part to me is about an endless cycle of letting go of this obsession with someone and just when you've almost healed (let go) they give you hope, so you jump right back in only to end up where you were before and even more hurt. And now you are awakening to this cycle and are pissed at yourself for falling captive to it and are telling this person I am done trying to get you to love me....and this world doesn't revolve around you, I'm in it for me now. | |
| The Dresden Dolls – Coin-Operated Boy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think that it's about a girl being in love with a guy who she thinks is the perfect guy. But he's not...and even so she wants to make him into the perfect guy because she wants him to be the one. And she's going in and out of being in love with him because of her frustration of finding out that he's just like all the others. So she is creating this fantasy of what she wants him to be, but it's still not true...and she's still holding out for him to change. | |
