| Passion Pit – Little Secrets Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Whoops, okay, wait-- "Now painting rainbows on my ugly face." According to the album leaflet thing, the lyrics are: when I came down the dawn poured into me I shook 'em up the walls came crumbling my thin skin trembling with these salty wounds my stolen gold inside the emperor's tomb now painting rainbows on my ugly face I built this cardboard neighborhood's disgrace but I ascend and serve my feverish need within the confines of such chemistry let this be our little secret no one needs to know we're feeling higher and higher and higher higher and higher and higher but I feel alive, oh, I feel it in me up and up we keep on climbing higher and higher and higher higher and higher and higher my face blew up at such a casual sight the smattered colors of ecstatic fright the rush above me to oblivion outlining wet sidewalks in halogen have you ever felt so goddamn strong? how come it takes some people so damn long he turned to squeeze the lemon juice to rain the citrus drawing out the scene in stains mother, I can tell what you've been thinking staring at the stars on your ceiling thinking once there was a power that you were weilding but now I've hit the mark, stabbing at the dark and I cannot help but ignore the people staring at my scars |

I think the first line of the second verse is "now pinning rainbows to my ugly face." You can hear it clearer on the Live on KCRW video on youtube, so check that out. I still can't tell what he says in the third line of the second verse. |

I think it's "soft skinned boys lead the way". Anyway, I love this song :D One of my favorites on the album. |

| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Little Shadow Lyrics | 16 years ago |

"Volume strikes" sounds more like "for all your strides" (also, I think "with all your sight" is "for all your sight") In the end, I definitely hear something in the place of "Hey, shadow, stars, break of dawn Take a turn for stars, to my fantasy" Kind of sounds like this, but I don't know if they're right... but still, maybe someone can make some guesses based on the sounds/syllables here? Hey shade inside, dig and deeply die [or maybe, "deepened 'til we die", or "diggin' deep, we die"?] Turn and turn your sight to a fantasy [pretty positive about this one] I do think the end makes a bit more sense this way: Closer, shadow For all your strides, still, we're caught between All this sorrow, little shadow To the night, will you follow me? Hey, shade inside, [...] Turn and turn your sight to a fantasy Little shadow, to the night, will you follow me? Little shadow, to the night, will you follow me? |

| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Dull Life Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I dunno about anyone else, but I hear "Want you to stay in a subtle way, like you're walking again" at the beginning. It /could/ be something else for the first part (but I definitely don't hear a "K" sound) and I'm pretty sure about it being "you're" instead of "I'm" in the second line. | |

| Am I the only one that hears a bit of word play in the "You're off again breathing"(You're all [effing] breathing)? | |

I typed the lyrics as they were written in the booklet (well, I separated the verses; the lyrics were written in blocks of text). Unless I typo-ed a few times(possible because the text was tiny), these are the correct lyrics. But if you could point out the errors ( there's no error in Global Warming; I never had it as warning) I'd happily fix them. |

| Bella – stay here Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think it sounds like she says take all your time I never mind I just don't want to move till you're home I'll figure out what we're about and when I know it I'll let you know you should stay here we should change our names when you come here you'll let me stay Take all your clothes I'll let you, I'll go but I don't know what to wear when you're gone after goodbyes I'll tell myself lies that I dont need you, I dont need you for long I'm not sure about some of it, but for the most part I think that's what the right lyrics are... |

| Uh Huh Her – Not A Love Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
These are the lyrics from the CD booklet insert thing. The scene is dead by morning Slipping past the great divide It chases over bridges Spins me out of my own mind Hollow is how you like it What you see is what you get Say you love it again But you never do I am not singing a love, Singing a love song 'Cause love is a game to you now Watch just to see how long I want to fall away And waste another day 'Cause love is a game to you now Watch just to see how long I see I disappoint you Why don't you find another threat? This isn't what you thought now If you fall, won't you tell me in my ear? You're here to waste their time dear But you can't waste mine Say you love me again But you never do But if you can't save love anyway You'll love again 'Cause love is a game to you now Watch just to see how long I want to fall away And waste another day 'Cause love is a game to you now Watch just to see how long |

| Girl In A Coma – Their Cell Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think that the song is, in general, about trying to avoid contradicting yourself( and being called out on it ). If you told your secrets to a deaf man, he couldn't call you out on those secrets a year later when you're doing the exact opposite. "Tattooed lovers they don't like to reminisce" is an important line. If you had your ex's name tattooed somewhere on you, would you want to sit there and remember/discuss whatever s--ty thing happened with them, while the proof is there on your body that you thought it would last forever? |

| Regina Spektor – Samson Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I don't care what she meant by this song; I'm a firm believer that when you hear a song you should draw your own interpretation of it, however meaningful it is. Personally, I like to think of it like this (even if it might not be about it): Samson was a Samantha, originally. The speaker, a lesbian, fell in love with her before she became Samson, a man. 'You are my sweetest downfall,' Even though she considers herself a lesbian (the speaker, not Regina.), she is in love with a man. You aren't usually considered a lesbian if you're in love with a man, and when something like that happens it can be a blow to your pride. A confusing 'I thought I knew myself' situation. I admit I don't know much about the Bible... so I really don't know if this is correct, but this is my interpretation anyway. I'm allowed to be wrong, s'long as I get my inspiration from the song :P After the sex change, since Samantha is now Samson, and it's no longer a homosexual relationship... the Bible didn't mention it as wrong anymore; they became 'normal' and they fit into society's expectations. And LaurieB89, that seems possible to me. I just think it's a bit odd about the 'Your hair was long when we first met,' part... because if she gave birth to him, wouldn't he have had not so much hair when they first met? Unless it was an adopted child, perhaps? Dunno. |

| The Dollyrots – Brand New Key Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
It's a cover of Melanie's song Brand New Key, a hit around 1971-1972. The song is talking about quad skates, which are fastened by a screw. The key that is talked about is possibly the screw to adjust the skates. This could be seen as an innuendo, the key in a lock symbolizing sexual intercourse. |

[ Apples parachute the boys back down. ] What do apples do when you drop them? They crash down. So it's like an oxymoron. |

| Shiny Toy Guns – We Are Pilots Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
My personal opinion on this song is that it's talking about unaccepting parents. That's not too hard to find out, but unaccepting of what? Homosexuality, maybe... since alot of people believe something is 'wrong' with homosexuals. If I put my self in that position, and 'came out' to my parents, I can see all the things in that song perfectly describing that situation. "Sword beneath my clean dress" ~ All my life, my mother would scold me about the proper ladylike things.. Hiding a sword beneath a dress, could maybe mean hiding a more boyish part of herself? |
