Bowling for Soup – High School Never Ends Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Is it just me that finds the intro to this song almost identical to Footloose? Don't get me wrong, I love the song & BfS but sometimes I don't know what song I'm supposed to start singing! |
Little Man Tate – Sexy In Latin Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I know I'm wrong but I take "Sexy in Latin" to mean that this woman dances Latin (but then I am a dancing obsessive and I'd love to be "sexy in Latin" - slowly falling in absolute love and awe with this track, it's such a bright song and yet does definitely have a Disco 2000 feel about it! |
Ray LaMontagne – Jolene Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Well, I never thought I'd be proud that my name's Jolene! I'm determined people are gonna start singing this at me when they meet me/see me - Dolly Parton's offering will never match the perfectness this song is. Gives me shivers. |
The Pink Spiders – Modern Swinger Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'm currently obsessed with this song! It's so anti-love (or at least the convential interpretation of love) and it's such a party - I'm another one that just wants to dance and holler along to the notion of: Yeah, my baby's pretty as a car crash Subtle as a splinter Yeah, my baby's smooth as sandpaper Warm just like the winter Screaming "Catch me if you can!" with a cigarette in hand And it's love It's heavy and it hurts and it's love. Ahhhhh! So perfect - and such a nice guy! LOL! |
The Killers – Bling (Confession of a King) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I don't intend to leave a comment of the meaning, you guys have done a good enough job for me. I just have to say that this song is INCREDIBLE and I can't believe it took me so long to realise it; I am a Killers fan I promise! They've never gotten a beat wrong in my opinion. When I offer you survival, You say it's hard enough to live, And I'll tell you when it's over, Shut up, Poor and tired, But more than this "Shut up!" just makes me wanna scream with it's perfectness! And I love the sense of hope in the verse of amazingness that is Higher and higher, We're gonna take it, Down to the wire, We're gonna make it, Out of the fire, Higher and higher. |
Matchbox Twenty – Long Day Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This has recently eclipsed Unwell as my fave MBT track, if only because I can totally relate to the frenzy that are the lyrics (the drum beat kicking in just carries it off so perfectly) And I'm so Terrified of no one else but me I'm here all the time I won't go away It's me, yeah I can't get myself to go away It's me, and I can't get myself to go away Oh God I shouldn't feel this way It's about depression, I think and knowing the one person you can't escape is yourself, so you need someone there to make the world seem better to you, someone you can always rely on, even when it seems there's no-one there. Forever worshipping this band - they are immense! |
Bowling for Soup – 99 Biker Friends Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is pretty selfish explanatory - it's a guy sticking up for his friend when she's stuck in an abusive relationship cos she loves her b/f. And yet, it just makes me smile because this guy knows how to rubbish such claims: Blame it on the beer. Your dad was mean to you. Your friends think you're an asshole And I do too. and *sings* he's got 99 biker friends that are gonna kick his ass! Oh sweet justice! Loving BfS as always! |
The Goo Goo Dolls – We Are The Normal Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Ah, I definitely feel that now Chymes! Previously I've just been too caught up in the sound and the simple genius that are the lines: "We are the normal We live and we die With no reason why" Am, as ever, in awe of the GGD! |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Hate This Place Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I am a new Goo fan - I loved Iris and then my stepdad bought Let Love In and I was sold, I think I can go as far as to say they are my new favourite band in the world! I managed to get four Goo albums all for £20 online :D and have been falling in love ever since! I think I love you But I ain't sayin' nothin' you don't know Hold on - dream away You're my sweet charade Makes me shiver, I swear. Johnny's voice blows me away! To me, this song is about a guy who's taken his lover back (maybe even having an affair...? You know I'm lost Hiding in your bed No I don't think it's wrong It's just gone to my head) but doesn't think they can be as strong as they were. |
Mike Oldfield – Moonlight Shadow Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"I hereby ask everybody who's making theories about the 105 being people to listen to that specific part closely - use headphones if you want... it say "caught in the middle of -A- hundred-and-five". The "a" is the important part, since it immediately rules out 105 people, the 105th street or whatever. Instead, this is a prime example of a police code. (never watched Kojak?) "We have a 105 here." =) So it IS about a robbery." Er, while I'm happy to accept that it may well be a police code, I just wanted to point out that it DOESN'T rule out the "105 people" *A* hundred and five PEOPLE still makes perfect sense to me! :) And yes, that's what I always interpreted it as... a woman struggling to get through a crowd to reach her dying lover... who probably shouldn't have been caught up in the "desperate fight" anyway. So sad, but the Celtic undertone does make it so beautiful and so addictive! |
