"the King" told the "'boogieman" , Here is the truth, An exec at cbs told the clash that the demos were too long on Combat rock. "to let that raga drop" A raga is a long melodic indian song, which is what strummer is refering to in the opening lines The corporate boys didn't wan't anymore long songs on the album, most of the rest of the song was written by topper (Surprise) who had beed dicking about with the chords for a few months by himself, He used to go into the studios and, being an accomplished musician himself, came up with the chords, and most of the lyrics. Topper, was in fact a better bass player than Paul, and probably better at guitar than Joe. The rest of the lyrics, for you clash newbies, are all splayed out for you above. Way ahead of their time were the clash, and way ahead of anything out there today. And you know what, it makes listening to music today sound like a 4th grade garage band |
