Is it just me, or does anyone else detect hints of fascism in the song? I mean, why else would there be two deliberate Nazi signs in the song? First off, you hear the drums that sound like marching, backed by the speech at the beginning. This is reminiscent of Hitler. Secondly, the sound effect you hear before the first verse could be the sound of a diving Stuka bomber, a deadly Nazi weapon. So, why would Slipknot bother to build a song around fascism? I believe they are saying that US has become fascist in a sense. If you look at the lyrics, you can get a feel for current issues from them. "We fight so no one can fight us We live and no one can stop us We pull when we push too far And the advantages, the bottom line is We never had to fight in the first place We yell it, and just spit back in their face We won't walk alone any longer What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger" Tell me; who is "we" in that verse? The US? It would fit. The US fights so they won't be victims of terrorism. The US is still a world power and can't be stopped....you can see where I'm going with this. I believe that the lyrics reflect resentment for the war that we've gotten ourselves into, citing the US as fascist for forcing our power upon the Middle East. Take it as you will; that's my theory. |
