I don't think so- I think when Conor first says "I want a girl" it's through his point of view, and then "I Want a boy" it's from the girl's point of view. As for the chemical part it's a drug reference, because "his mind went dark" and they were at a club just partying, drinkin, and then having sex, and he is too hungover and busy "touching" and "singing" in the morning to meet up with the rest of the band. They both were being "lovers" that night, but they "don't have to love" each other. It's just a temporary fling they both had. |

I think this means that although Brandon sees the devil getting ready for the showdown with his mother and her health, he still has "got his money on the pawn tonight" as in he still believes that she can defeat him, even though she is just a pawn in power comparisons to the devil, she is still far more strong than him, and will overcome. as the song progresses you see the struggle intensifying I saw the devil wrapping up his hands He's getting ready for the showdown I saw the ending where they turned the page I took my money and I ran away Straight to the valley of the great divide... and the final verse he is pleading for his mother not to give up Now Cinderella, don't you go to sleep It's such a bitter form of refuge... absolutely amazing song, best band |

I agree with Lester, I think this song is about the man's grilfriend who is a stripper, and she dances for the white men in black suits, probably business men. "I still see those scary guys when I am all alone at night I kiss the ring you gave me then I swing with all my might I think it's getting better for the two of us I think it's getting easier for you and me to agree That the white men in black suits, they are diminishing" the scary guys are the men whom the woman he loves dances for, they diminish his hopes that shes the only man for him, yet things are getting better because they provide her with money to support themselves?? well that's my take on it anyway |

I think this song is supposed to be sad as you dwell back on all of the memories you had, and that they are lost. especially in the line And someone will drive her around Down the same streets that I did On the same streets that I did it's saying that the girl he used to love will be driven around with another man in all the places he used to take her. but the title, and chorus of the song "smile like you mean it" tell you to wipe that fake smile off of your face, and rather than be sad that you have lost the oold memories, smile about all of the times in your past that you have enjoyed, like you mean it |
