The Shins – Those To Come Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Reading the title, it means it's about those who are to come. It's been mentioned already, but it's very definitely about life and it's strangeness, the absurdity of death, the unanswered question. Making tea in her underwear: we perceive beauty, but Shifting skin: it's about making love The bearers of all good things arrive Climb inside us, Twist and cry: conception (sperm, egg) We're created hunting beauty but a strange feeling of emptyness arises when pondering life and its mysteries. That's what the song means for me. I love this song. |
Gnarls Barkley – Crazy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Every time I hear this song, I'm reminded of Friedrich Nietzsche, especially from his *Ecce Homo*. "And when you’re out there, without care Yeah I was out of touch But it wasn’t because I didn’t know enough I just knew too much." and "Come on now, Who do you, Who do you, who do you, Who do you think you are? Ha Ha Ha, Bless your soul You really think you’re in control? " and "Ever since I was little, Ever since I was little it looked like fun And as no coincidence I’ve come And I can die when I’m done" Oh, and of course the crazy chorus. Yea, this is Nietzsche's pop song, for me anyways. |
Nick Drake – River Man Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I read Hermann Hesse's Siddhartha before I heard this song and I'm always reminded of the river man in the story. Great book, great song. |
