I am also an atheist PseudoNymX, but I disagree about death. Death is the reason to live. And because we know death is coming, we should live our lives while we can, and enjoy every miserable or magnificent moment of it. I choose not to spend my life praying to something that may or may not exist, because I view it as a waste of life. You don’t need a god to tell you what’s right and what’s wrong, or how you should live your life. This is not to say that religion is bad at its core; it teaches people basic values. However, it also controls people and is powerful enough to cause war. Do you really want to live for eternity? In heaven or otherwise? And if there is indeed a god, then how do you know it is your god? If an atheist should fear death, than so should a Christian because for all they know, they were wrong about god all along. Regardless, why should someone raised Jewish, Hindu, Muslim go to the Christian hell or vise versa? None of us should fear death; it should inspire us to live while we still can. I don't know if this song is anti-atheism or not (regardless, I still love Muse), but I don't think atheists are all afraid to die. Death is merely a motivation. Memento mori |

So I doubt anyone will actually get to this comment, seeing as it comes after about 4 pages of comments, but here goes. There are several reasons that I no longer like PATD! This song is one of them. If PATD is indeed talking about scene kids and the "scene", then I really think they should reconsider - The scene is (or was at first) their fan base. Scene kids made them who they are today. In fact, they appear to be scene kids themselves. You really shouldn't insult your fans. Not cool. |

Okay, so at first I thought this song was about drugs (I needed just a hit), but now I'm not so sure. It kinda seems like it could be a reference to graduation day. Now, don't shoot me for saying this, but I really and truly hate graduation day. I tried; I gave it a chance, but I think it's horrible. Don't get me wrong, I think HA is amazing, but that song sounds nothing like the rest of the album, or their first one. It's your classic, unoriginal, run of the mill, "alternative rock" piece of shit that MTV extracts from the music world (no offense if you like it - maybe I just have no taste in music). Graduation day sounds like the kind of song that any other MTV "alternative rock" band could turn out, make some flashy music video for, and proceed to ruin radio with. Anyway, here's what made me think it's a song reference - I had to write a hit, one hit - I though it sounded like song reference; write a song, a hit song. And Graduation Day is their hit song (along with beating hearts, which I do like) It's a very little hit, I'm sure you won't like it - Well, I don't like it. I needed to be hurt, one hit will send me flying - Not sure about this, but I thought he was saying "I needed to be heard", not hurt. A hit song would allow HA to be heard by a larger fan base. It's a very little hit, I’m sure I won't like it - They're sure they won't like their hit song because hit music, for lack of a better word, sucks (for the most part). I got away with murder last night in the parking lot In cold blood I have murdered parts of us that we forgot - Maybe they're talking about murdering the part of the band that didn't want to give in to popular music, and instead play true to themselves. I got away with murder, who's the next to make the list - Who's the next band to "sell out" to pop music? btw, I don't condemn sell-outs: people have done worse things for money.
