Listening to this on Sunlandic Twins makes the next album all the more tragic. It was on the vinyl version I think so I'd consider it legitimately part of sunlandic twins. |

| of Montreal – An Ode to the Nocturnal Muse Lyrics

This whole album seems to be about death and trying to make the most out of your short life as you can. Embracing the good things while recognizing it all will end.
"We wont notice when were dead
Well be too busy dreaming" |

| Gary Numan – Change Your Mind Lyrics

I always interpenetrated him to be talking to the audience and critics on this one. Asking us "Why can't you reconsider, Listen if you care", but at the same time acknowledging that it is the audience's decision, and he knows he is faltering. "Please, please won't you change your mind?" |

| Gary Numan – Respect Lyrics

According to Karl Sherlock's Numa Records page, this is about the band Hohokam that Gary had signed to his record label but had a fallout with. If that is true, this is one of the most brutal attacks I've heard in music. |

"These are not my tears
Not my reflection
Am I a photo?
I can’t remember"
These were lyrics that made me fall in love with Numan. |

| Gary Numan – Bleed Lyrics

This is one a my favorite songs from Numan's industrial period. It has a catchy beat and sing along lyrics (absolutely horrifying ones at that). Unlike a lot of his new stuff, this sounds clear and simple and isn't buried under piles of computer-generated sludge. The lyrics are so straightforward and uncompromising; you really get to feel how Numan feels in this song. |

| Gary Numan – A Game Called Echo Lyrics

Anyone notice the similarities between this song and Nine Inch Nail's song "Echoplex?" The incessant drum machine beat is almost the same.
I love how this song feels like it's about to fall apart. Who knows if that was intentional or the reason this was a B side. |

| Gary Numan – A Dream Of Siam Lyrics

This is perhaps Gary's most texturally complex song of his career. Though the lyrics are on the vague side (even for Numan's standards), I am floored by the contrasts between the funk bass, the oriental chimes, and the postapocalyptic synths. This may be my favorite song he's even written. Even the lyrics, vague as they are, reveal bleak contrasts and desires unfulfilled. Here, Gary hit sonic perfection. |
