Army of Anyone – Disappear Lyrics 19 years ago
Not really sure what it's about, but here's one theory: It's sung from the perspective of a gay person, about they get shunned (feeling ostracised), especially from church (heaven won't help us) so they try to "disappear" or hide their sexuality. In short, an anti-homophobia song. That could be completely off too, I'm looking forward to reading other peoples' ideas about this song.

Avenged Sevenfold – Beast and the Harlot Lyrics 19 years ago
It's a DAMN good thing God isn't the suing type, because if He was, A7X would be screwed. As everyone said it's straight out of the Bible, but A7Xfanatik might be on to something about it being political. Focus on the Family actually condemned the song, saying it was "outright satanic," which gives some insight on their REAL beliefs, considering what book it was based on... j/k I don't think FOTF is satanic but this just makes the fact even clearer than before that JAMES DOBSON AND EVERYONE THAT WORKS FOR HIS SITE ARE FUCKING NUTJOBS!!!

Primus – Kalamazoo Lyrics 19 years ago
JofaGuht, there was a song called Kalamazoo by the Glenn Miller Orchestra that started with the ABCDEFGH..., and this song sounds like it's loosely based on that. It's nowhere near an exact cover, a lot of the lyrics and some of the basic melody are changed, but it is somewhat based on the Glenn Miller song.

Metallica – Battery Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is AWESOME, it's the reason for my name on here. According to Guitar World, it's about the Waldorf club on SF's Battery St, where they used to play. "Cannot kill the battery" (incidentally, the line I got my name from) could mean that they'll never forget how they got started, and "cannot kill the family, battery is found in me" could mean that the band (family) has an unbreakable bond because of the Waldorf club.

Metallica – To Live Is to Die Lyrics 19 years ago
Awesome song, musically and Cliff's poem! I think it's about how he's tired of seeing people lie, give up who they are, etc. and how he's tired of dealing with it.

Metallica – The God That Failed Lyrics 19 years ago
It's about James's bad experiences with Christian Science. Trust you gave, a child to save - his mom had faith that James would accept her religion. Left you cold - her dead. And him in grave - killed a part of James inside, like his social life because he had to sit out of certain classes at school because of his parents' religion, or hurt his belief in God because his mom thought he would heal her if she just had faith and didn't accept medical treatment. I get so pissed when Protestants and Catholics judge Metallica just because of this song and/or Leper Messiah, neither song has anything that should piss off either of those, unless you count Jim Bakkerism or Christian Science as Protestant denominations.

Alice in Chains – Angry Chair Lyrics 19 years ago
The death penalty, angry chair being the electric chair.
Little boy made a mistake, hey
Pink cloud has now turned to gray, oh
All that I want is to play, hey
Get on your knees, time to pray, boy

The first and second lines are about commiting a crime and realizing that you're about to suffer the consequences, the third I can't figure out, maybe he wishes he was free again, then the fourth is a reference to the preachers, evangelists, prison ministries, etc. that visit death row inmates.

Soundgarden – Fell on Black Days Lyrics 19 years ago
I think there's probably more meanings than this, but I think one of the big ones is depression, no one else mentioned this but when Chris was a teenager, he spent a year without leaving his house. That experience has made it into some Audioslave lyrics, so it's quite possible that's what this song is talking about. The other major theme is letting people be themselves, not trying to judge them or force your opinions on them, as shown in: So don't you lock up something that you wanted to see fly
Hands are for shaking
No, not tying

Soundgarden – The Day I Tried to Live Lyrics 19 years ago
I think he's talking about conforming, giving up who you are just to fit in, then realizing it's better to be true to yourself (and I learned that I was a liar, just like you).

Soundgarden – Mailman Lyrics 19 years ago
omg this song is about buttsex im the one heading for the bottom notice head like head of the penis and bottom is another word for ass

Now for my actual interpretation of the song. The first 2 verses seem to be talking about being pissed off about getting screwed over or ignored by bosses, government, some other person, or just society in general. The chorus is an "I'm not tolerating this bullshit anymore" thing (but I'm riding you all the way) and the 3rd verse to me is saying something like "now that I've died (or quit, left, etc.) you want me back and are finally sorry for treating me like crap."

Audioslave – Jewel Of The Summertime Lyrics 19 years ago
Getting out of a depressed time, probably related to the time where Chris didn't leave his house for a year. These lyrics make sense to me with that interpretation:

When I turned 21 I saw the sun pulling out of sight
I met a man with dark silhouette's stumbling in the night
But we collided, uh-huh
In a ?, uh-huh
Got alot on me, uh-huh
Now I'm bathing in the bright of divided rays

Audioslave – Revelations Lyrics 19 years ago
I think he could be talking about a religious person who's shunning him somehow (why don't you guide me in if I'm such a lost soul), like maybe a hypocritical Christian that thinks something like "why bother" or "he's too evil for me to even try, if I talk to him he'll just reject God and shun me." I definitely think it has something to do with religion, especially with lines like "in the afterlife we'll reap." It could also be about someone that exploits religion for personal gain, not unlike Metallica's Leper Messiah, Ozzy's Miracle Man, or Iron Maiden's Holy Smoke. Of course, I could also be completely missing the mark with both those theories.
