The Shins – Fighting In A Sack Lyrics 19 years ago
*One retraction, for those who like to argue over small details, JW's have actually been to court more than 43 times in various international supreme courts. USA TODAY had this to say about JW's:

"The next time some Jehovah’s Witnesses interrupt your dinner, you might consider thanking them. In gritty dedication to their religious principles, this out-of-the-mainstream denomination of scarcely 1 million members [in the United States] has probably done more than any other institution to secure freedom of speech for individual Americans. . . .

“For the Witnesses, going to the high court is a familiar routine. In more than two dozen cases over 65 years, they’ve effectively fought against the tyranny of the majority.”—USA TODAY, June 18, 2002.

The Shins – Fighting In A Sack Lyrics 19 years ago
Hah, I knew this someone would make a reference to JW's in their interpretation of this song.

Let me start of by saying, I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and also a Shins fan. Everyone's entitled to their opinion and I won't knock anyone's opinion to JW's, or the Shin's opinion of them. I do want to clear up one thing, though.

A huge misconception about JW's is that we go door-to-door with the goal of "recruiting" new members. That is not true. Our only goal is to offer some hope to those that want it, using the Bible as our basis for our beliefs. We share Scriptures with those who are willing to have a nice conversation with us and we strongly encourage people to read the Bible and to form a close bond with God. We are not pushy (maybe some individual members tend to be pushy, but that's a personality flaw on their part, being pushy is not encouraged in our organization) and a lot of people appreciate our work.

If you agree with nothing JW's say, then at least be polite when you express your disinterest in our visit. Please remember that Jehovah's Witnesses have been to the Supreme Court a record of 43 times for various cases related to Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion. We simply uphold what this country was founded on, free speech, freedom of religion, the freedom to speak of a new idea.

Perhaps Jehovah's Witnesses, although they don't vote or salute the flag, are true patriots.
