ITS TITLED AFTER LUCA BRASI FROM THE GODFATHER. from wikipeida- Luca Brasi's talent, it was said, was that he could do a job, or murder all by himself, without confederates, which made finding and convicting by the law almost impossible. He is also well known for killing six men in two weeks for attempting to kill Don Corleone. These six deaths ended the famous "Olive Oil War". Many years before The Godfather opens, Brasi impregnated a young Irish prostitute and later murdered her, but did not stop there; on the day of his daughter's birth, he forced the midwife, under pain of death, to hurl his own daughter into a furnace, an act for which she never forgave herself, describing him as an unholy demon that night. Shortly before Vito Corleone is shot, Brasi intends to draw out rival mobster Virgil Sollozzo and the rest of the Don's enemies. Sollozzo, after promises of friendship and a job offer, rams a knife into Luca's hand, pinning it to the bar as an assassin garrottes him from behind. A Sicilian message is later sent to the Corleone family: a fish wrapped in Brasi's flak jacket. The meaning is made clear to the Corleones: "Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes." The song "Luca" by Brand New is a reference to Luca Brasi, with the line "Unless you have friends among fish, there'll still be no air to breathe." |

max is showing the stages he grows through when trying to meet/seduce a woman. 1.)and i'll undress myself for you if you're at all interested -he comes on strong and shows his initial interest right away. 2.)oh i know your pain you're like i are plagued by the flies -he then empathizes with the girl and attempts to show her that he is very similar to her, so she feels understood, which is what everyone wants 3.)i better watch my back around you you've got the moves, the shoes the doo, you've got me he then basically praises them and adds to their confidence that he really does want them, even if his intentions are darker than what he insinuates. 4.)i am cool too cool to call you far too stoned to leave my bed -and the last verse shows two sides to max. he either attempts to make the girl want him more by saying, i am too cool to call you etc, or he just gives up and realizes that its not all worth it, and just moves on to the next girl realizing that he could have that one, but decides not to for lack of interest/connection/motivation etc; |

please take me out of my body out up through the palm trees to smell california in sweet hypocricy. such a burn to this entire scene. i love max bemis, hes so real. he completely gets it. i hate that this scene is so hard to hang in, its mostly made of kids who are running from someother type of group to which they dont want to belong, so for some reason everyone feels like every other person isnt good enough, or original enough. its laughable. all people want is to be accepted and max gets that. |

this is one of the angriest songs that jesse has written about a girl so far, in my opinion. he even makes a reference to a turned down proposal or something along those lines when he says "Say you're my friend but why won't you be my family?" its a really bitter song overall. |
