| he said in an interview that I read once that he wrote this song when he had been in NYC for a while and missed his hometown, the simplicity of it all, hence the stress on nature-which would be the opposite of NYC (industry). As far as the chorus goes, I think there is a slight religious context to it, he was brought up in a Christian home, so I think it seeped into his music, if only for one song. It's hard to say what he really means by "Chariot" but what I think he means is just that he wants the memories of his hometown to give him strength to keep on truckin' in the big city by himself. He misses his friends, family and his town, and to me all of that is his "Chariot." It's also pretty sweet to think we all have our own "Chariot" and it contains the things that we hold close, memories, people, etc. Altogether an amazing song, the Stripped version couldn't possibly be any better :] | |

This song is huge for me, it depicts a relationship I had down to every word in the song. My favorite part is "And I can't get to you.. you.. you Where are you now? As Iām swimming through the stereo I conduct a symphony of sound Where are you now? As I'm cutting through you track by track I swear to god this mix could sink the sun But it was you I was thinking of" If I could describe my entire relationship with this girl in a verse, that was it. |
