I think TheManipulator is correct with the suicide reference "The sound of silence is as loud as a gunshot" referring to the fact that she killed herself quietly (drugs, etc..) but but the significance of the silence might as well rang out like a gun shot... then the "'Forgive me' were the only words they read on the note you left". is obviously the suicide note... He now has nothing to live for and wants to die... floating away on the ocean is a way of giving up and surrendering to his emotions and let everything go... What makes a man a man is dealing with your life and the circumstances around it... no matter how difficult and hopeless everything feels. |

| DreamersDisease is right... THe chorus parts are a he said she said argument back and forth with Toby and Matt. Picture a young couple where the guy is sober and the girl is always parting. They are arguing about are being strung out on alcohol and drugs and wanting to drive home. Then every February it gets worse because that was the month her father died... The "little Girl" reference is just suggesting that his girlfriend is still emotionally stuck back when her father died. The argument they are having is all to common in these days. You confront someone who is having serious issues that will probably land them in the grave... and their response (at least at first) is always.... I got this... I got this... | |

The scars that save are obviously the scars of Jesus when he was crucified. "How can you see me, as something so lovely" Dispite how far removed I am from God's vision, he still loves me. "Cause it's killing me that I am to blame" No matter how hard I try, my sins are to blame for his scars... I can not be perfect but... "I will fight with all that I am to get it right in the end." |
