Cursive – The Lament of Pretty Baby Lyrics 18 years ago
I haven't really heard any of Cursive's other songs, but I love this one. I've had it for a while and every now and then it gets stuck in my head.

I think that just because someone writes a bunch of songs that have deep hidden meanings doesn't mean they can't write a song that just comes right out and just says what its about.

The first time I heard this song I thought it was about rape. It makes sense not just because of the one line about the moon.

Like, it starts out with someone seeing a girl getting raped/molested by someone in a kitchen. Then they are saying they won't let anyone do that to her again, so they make her tell someone about it.

Then it changes to her point of view. And she is asking for the doctor to "fix" her.

Then it goes back to the point of view of whoever saw her getting raped and he loves her even though she is "broken" but she feels trapped "The butterfly pinned to the page The nightengale locked in a cage" he is telling her to be happy anyway "Won't you sing for me?" But she doesn't feel good about herself. "Crushed beneath fashion magazines" "Trampled by circus pony dreams"

So then she cheats on him trying to look for attention of the wrong kind. "Oh Please, mister, can't you fix me? can't you fix me?"

And the first guy is telling her to cry herself to sleep because she knows she was wrong. The part "Wait, you are strong and I am weak" could be a bitter reply like I guess you know whats right and I don't so he leaves.

Fair to Midland – (Tibet) Dance of the Manatee Lyrics 18 years ago
I LOVE this song. I don't know why. I heard it one night while I was really stoned and it sounded so weird.

I had no idea what they were saying though, and so I couldn't look it up to see who it was. But then I heard them say it on the radio.

Now I'm happy.

Orgy – Stitches Lyrics 19 years ago
Jay Gordan's voice makes me melt, I love it. Orgy is one of my all time favorite bands.

As for this song, I agree with the groupie theory. I also think that the word "queer" in this song has absoulutly nothing to do with homosexuals based on the fact that it says "SEEMING queer" that doesn't make sense unless it means strange.

Jefferson Airplane – White Rabbit Lyrics 19 years ago
I watched the Disney version of Alice in Wonderland while coming down from an acid trip. I completely understood how she could get lost in a different world all together while just being in her own head. I have yet to read the books though.

This song reminds me of shrooms more than acid though. It would be a good song to trip to I think.

Chicago – 25 or 6 to 4 Lyrics 19 years ago
Clearly anyone who says this song is NOT about drugs has never dropped acid. EVERY single line could be a reference.

I'm far too young to have much to do with the 60s/70s , but as soon as I heard it I knew what they were singing about. Even the music itself is pretty trippy.

I know that not all songs from that time were about drugs, but this one obviously is. And if somehow I'm wrong, then they accidently wrote the most perfect acid trip song.
