also, agreed best live show ever. if youre not already obsessed with them all it takes is seeing them perform. they have the best group dynamic and have so much fun that, just like in their music its contagious and everyone there is having a ball. |

i always thought it was "your face turned red at the edges and i helped you undress"
i liked that part about it because it was so cute about him being nervous because they liked eachother so much, and it fit in so well with the rest of the song |

but in terms of what its actually about, i always thought it was that in todays world its so hard to communicate, and we've become desensitized by everything that its hard to even keep up a conversation, which is why they talk about seeds and soil, trucks and lawnmowers, all random and irrelevent topics. Its sad, but sometimes it really does take the help of something like alcohol to get people to say whats on their mind, or how they really feel. its the only way that we can communicate with one another and tell the truth. i can totally relate and i think its simple and eloquent. |

i love this song, i always get the feeling that they made it up as they went along. also with everythng thats going on in all their songs, its easy to take for granted the lovliness of their voices, and this song is so simple with only limited intruments in the background, you get really impacted by the beauty of kianna's voice. i love it and tilly in general |

yes, this immediately reminded me of darger's paintings, however i disagree with the carpet interpretation. Although there is a depiction of the vivian sisters playing on a carpet, i doubt that is the reference here. Darger was a recluse and it is believed by some authors that he was responsible for the slaying and abduction of a child in the chicago area in 1911. He wrote and illustrated his epic and rolled them up when he was finished with a section. After his death, his landlord found thousands of scrolls all over his aprtment, and didnt realize until later their brilliance. That is what is meant by "Girl, youve been rolled up in colorful carpets." and also he had no other furniture in the room, it was just bare except for his masterpiece, which explains "Room unfurnished, no light for nightfall..." part. This is just my opinion but its what i thought of when i first listened to the song. Also, the name of the manuscript was The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What is known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinnian War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion, which explains "in a world to unreal to behold" and their fading innocence is not to the account of their sex organs, this was because darger didnt understand female anatomy and is thought to be a mistake, not intentional, but can be interpreted in all sorts of ways. Their innocence is fading because they are fighting against evil to protect the other young girls and themselves. the manuscript was 15,143 pages but also included the illustrations. sorry for rambling but i just set up this account and i love tilly and darger. this was def one of my favorite songs off the new cd. |
