he actually played this a dozen times over the summer tough. i've got this version of the song along with the last time he played it on the tour, and also a couple in between. its amazing listening to how the song progresses each time its played. i love this version the most though, its so simple. i see this song as some guy experiencing his first love, and being used and manipulated to know end. finally he realizes that he f'd up, wised up, and left. the "shotgun" is both the pain of letting go, and the wakeup. |

This song is about the death of a loved one, with the pain so much that this person feels like dying themselves: "Feel heavy like floating At the bottom of the sea" "I wish, I wish I was dead and you were grieving" The pain that he feels is the Devil inside him, which he wish he could set free.....while the Angel is the feeling of this loved one with him. "You said always and forever Now I believe you baby" You'll be in my heart forver, and were not lying when you said "always and forever." |
