I think this is a song about a bad break up (he breaks up with her and is expecting that they will get back together, because she wants him back.. Then she finds someone new and he is left hurting.) But its such a great song so I wish there was some really cool story or theory about it.. Anyone?.. |

Confirmation: This song is about the lead singer of Matchbox 20, Rob Thomas' mothers battle with cancer.. She was told she only had 6 months to live when Rob was about 14, she made a full recovery and after that recovery she didn't seem to take life seriously.. She wanted to "Live it to it's fullest".. If you take a close look at the lyrics they are all relevant in some way or another to this situation. 3Am is when the bars close, its about Rob Thomas being lonely during this period of his mothers life.. |
