It seems to me the song is about two people who love each other so much that the even the most mundane seeming activities, (hanging out at a park, stopping by the hardware store) when done together are better than anything else life has to offer. But, now that one of them has left and gone off to Tulsa, nothing will ever compare with the time they spent together. It's all downhill from here. |

Amazing song, I just got back from seeing the Decemberists live and Colin had the entire audience and the opening band all singing "Hear all the bombs fade away." Gave me chills, I nearly cried. |
