This is a really beautiful love song, I think, Matt, wrote to his girlfriend, Gaia. In the song, Matt, is like, explaining, to his girlfriend, that he want to be together with her, but it's going to take some time, because he still is "mending broken" over his previous relationship. You can also see, in the second verse, that he is talking about another person. Could be his ex..
Love this song. |

Fran Healy have said that the song is about his fathers violent behavior to his mum. So the song IS about domestic violence from a victims point (Frans mum). |

This is diffently matts opinion of the politic there is in the world right now. It shows directly in the lyrics that he finds it wrong.
I think many of the songs on Black Holes And Revelations rely alot to political essue, even though Muse says that the Album isn't a political album. |

Matts girlfriend had ones said in a interview from cosmopolitan, that she knows, that this song is writtin' to her. You can almost also read it in the lyrics that Matt feels he's " away from the people who care if he's live or die ." |

I think the Song is a kind of an intentional to the song "Re-offender" and if know one knows, Re-offender is about Fran healys parrents relations to each other. In that way, I think Paperclips could be, like a message to his father, like "I don't wanna see your face at my door"´. |
