| The Smashing Pumpkins – We Only Come Out at Night Lyrics | 19 years ago |

there are so many lights in which we can look at this song as everyone has expressed...i think this is billy being silly, i think billy can be silly truly and have fun and we all know fun and night time are synonomous...and those that are drawn to the night are drawn to the mystery of life and the passions that call to us during the night...night is a time of life and death...a fragile and dangerous time...it can also be truly sexy truly...im rammbling but all in all this song has an eerie circus feeling which makes me want to be adventurous and explore...i love the saloon piano and harp like sounds mmmm... "iwalk alone, i walk alone to find the way home i'm on my own, i'm on my own to see the ways that i can't help the days, you will make it home o.k" -we are all alone but we find each other in the night we find billy in the night and we pretend we know what he is talking about but only he truly knows...but i love that there are so many interpretations to his songs...he can touch the different faces of the world... |

as soon as you give life to love you foretell the death of it...it creates and destroys itself so "get on the bomb" like Billy says in another song...we are bodies with souls and thank god we have bodies so we can touch each other...we are tempted and teased and fight to love and love to fight and sometimes the love dies and hearts break but it doesnt mean we cant enjoy the ride... his words are beautiful and brilliant... |

I agree with Strange. I think part of the reason why we are where we are today in this mess of madness is because of cycle of negativity and society's ritual of holding onto hatred and anger seeking revenge rather than peace or a peace of mind. America was built upon "those who have been done wrong by" where justice was never served and now we are paying the price. And because the true problems of racism, classism, capitalism and blah blah blah were never addressed way back when old men with thier white curlys on were sitting around the table, it has seeped into the everyday events of the "land of the free and the home of the brave." I think she is definately commenting on the general corruption of America but her main emphasis is on the quality of life for the rich and the poor and the black and the white. She is commenting on the fact that the streets of America are paved for the rich white kids to come out and play while the poor black folks are to be swept away. Hurricane Katrina also did a wonderful job uncovering a major issue our country still must address |

these lyrics are amazing... she is ready for that special someone to stick around and truly make her feel like a woman and embrace every curve of her femininty. shes hesitant and frustrated, perhaps sexually frustrated. she wants to be able to let down her defenses and surrender to her lover just as she expects him to surrender to her. she wants to make sure she is getting the real deal, no jack in the box shit. she is ready to be given the opportunity to grow into the rose that exists within her...and yes this song makes me want to take off my clothes... in a dark room with blue lights and smoke rising |
