The cord breaking away, the bathtub, wanting to see like your eyes do (for the first time?) you breathed, then you stopped (ok so maybe the baby dies :P) i breathed, and dried you off. tonight i feel like more (after being a father) doesnt seem to fit with most of their songs, but its what really jumps out at me /shrug just seems like a classic birth to me /shrug |

mockery and parallel of religion and also modern life. the value systems are all wrong, people just do what they've always done, because they've always done it. the last minute, maybe not to do with the song, i personally think it's yet more of a parody, on a more cynical note. reeks of ignorant christian and american typical views, ex. the circumsision bits, digs at england and the whole 'anti gay' sermon thing. Think its makes an excellent point tbh. anyway, i actually like the song, good beat, good background, its not that good for outright listening, but i like it. also, i find the last minute quite funny, seriously butt-fucking residue? thats gold :P Oh yea, i think the lyrics aren't "Hot Car-Wing" but rather "Hot Carling" which is a term for some form of depraved sex (some people say Homosexual Sex, some say Crapping on someone's chest /shrug) anyways, dont get all bent out of shape about a song you dont like, im sure chino, or deftones in general dont care :P |

reminds me strongly of the sirce myth in the odysee, when the woman was all seductive, with a hint of evil and basically turned his crewmates into pigs and ate em. sounds to me like a warning against something that you want, and are powerless to resist. "you knew but it was never safe" and knowing from the start that its just going to get worse. I think he's singing it from "her" perspective as if she's warning him (in a mocking way, taunting him knowing that he's powerless) bad relationship song from the "evil" womans viewpoint in my opinion. kick ass song tho, i also love the hook. its really amazing. |

The truly good times that would bind and constrict him like a snake would." adding to, and agreeing with the relationship metaphor, i think by wishing the "snakes" were your (her) arms, is about wishing a negative thing (the lonliness experienced after a breakup) which seem to constrict and grab onto you (in a bad way) becoming a positive thing (your arms) and a hug etc. seems logical. |

i think its him grappling with everyone's every day depression, sometimes it can seem like the end of the world etc. etc. lots of people "think" of suicide, few do it. its like he penned the song at one of these low points, which are often recurring and happen in streaks, at least in my experience /shrug love the song tho, my fav on the album |

i think that its metaphorically about the same things that Superted and Nehebert mentioned, and the scriptural references are just a medium to express it in a non-literal manner. Sort of ties it in with a "theme" which would also match the tempo and overall mood of the song. Probably also drawing heavily from his gospel influences (Cee-Lo's) anyways, epic song. Luv it. |

standing firm, as HotFoxyAngel said, is what it is to me. one of the things that irritates me about HTD, is that they are a christian band, but I tolerate other peoples choices (unlike some bad religious ppl) Love this song btw, seriously gets me pumped up :D |
