| Randy Newman – Rednecks Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The phrase "free to be put in a cage" refers to the ghettos of the northern states. In the 30's and 40's Southern African Americans flocked to the north and these areas which went into a decline in the 60's (which coincides with Lester Maddox timeframe). The left the south to find better paying jobs and escape the racism of the south but found themselves confronted with the same issues in the north. | |

| Randy Newman – Louisiana 1927 Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The Katrina aftermath was reminiscent of the 1927 flood and the President's lack of interest in the plight of the people of Louisiana. Coolidge never went down to Louisiana after the flood. Hoover was in charge of disaster relief and went down there. It helped him win the presidency over Coolidge the next year. | |
| Five for Fighting – Love Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I interpeted this as a child stuck in the middle of his parent's nasty divorce and the child living with his father who is planning to remarry. The child isn't ready for it. I see the phrase "Take another bullet to the head" being a metaphor. The divorce and his mother leaving was like a death and then the father remarrying and replacing his mother (in his eyes) as if his mother no longer existed was the second blow. |

| Eric Clapton – Tears In Heaven Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Clapton has said that this song was part of his healing and dealing with his son's death. I think the part about not belonging in heaven may refer to the guilt he felt in not being there and if he had been, could have prevented it. Or it could be that he feels that a child is an innocent and that he is not worthy to be with him there until his God or whoever destines him to be. I agree with Knowa that he is referring to his thoughts of suicide. I can fully relate to this because I lost my infant daughter. When I heard this song it made me wonder if I were to meet her in the hereafter, would she know who I was? Beautiful song. |

| Blind Faith – Can't Find My Way Home Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I am still unsure but this is my feeling as to it's meaning: The person has been standing by their friend or lover who is a drug user and they are divided between leaving them or staying and waiting for the possibility that they will stop. It's possible he is also a user and is tired of the life but can't do it alone. They have been in this position for so long that they aren't sure how to get back to the way it used to be. This is one of my favorite songs. |
