Yeah, I have the above lyrics too... I know that he recorded an older version of this song called "Dear Anne" its on the Swedish Sessions, i believe... but anyway, I think he put it on Cold Roses and entitled it "Friends" because Friends is one of his favorite shows and it was going off the air? |

I read in an interview that this was written in response to Britney Spear's song also titled "Boys."
Basically she is saying that all men are assholes, and Ryan comes back with saying that they're really not and some men (like him) are actually romantic and have feelings too. Its really great how he can do that. |

yeah, i think its pretty obvious its about Carrie, but I also think the most powerful line of the song is the
"I fucked you over a million times and you died."
Just the way he sings it and the words he uses, yes they may be harsh, but it really shows the regret that he feels about how he treated her. This is one ofthe saddest songs I think he sings. So beautiful how its wrapped up in an up-beat melody. Beautiful. |
