Regina Spektor – Après Moi Lyrics 18 years ago
To me this song is about Love. Love is the only thing you don't have a choice in. It is decided for you unconciously.

The song seems to talk about the types of people you can fall for and the way they can capture your mind/ heart or soul.................

"Be afraid of the lame, they'll inherit your legs" =
If you fall in love with a weak person they can weigh you down or use you.

"Be afraid of the old, they'll inherit your soul" =
If you fall in love with an older person they seem to really get under your skin with their words as they are more knowledgeable and complex.

"Be afraid of the cold, they'll inherit your blood" =
If you fall in love with someone cold and selfish, they will drain you.

You have to remember to stand strong, that you are your own person ..... and so "you can't break that which isnt yours"!

I think the line "After me comes the flood" is talking to anyone who may be next to love her and leave her. Her feelings are so strong when in love that when it ends she will destroy the relationship and wash it away forever.

Damien Rice – Amie Lyrics 19 years ago
I think the meaning of O is quite simple.

It's just a symbol of eternity.

He doesn't believe O really exists, but he wants to believe, just like he wants to believe in God, or in anything constant.

e.g- Older Chests-
Time, always time, on my mind, just give me time.

The whole ablum is about what has been lost, what has passed, the search for a meaning, the search for something real and stable, the fact that we dont know where the hell we're going in life and that we might be doing everything in vain.

The possibility of "O" is what keeps us going....

So maybe O is God hmmmm?

Have I just taken that all a bit too far??? Haha oops!

Jeff Buckley – Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen cover) Lyrics 19 years ago
A very very very sad song and the way he sings it makes me cry! Heres what it means to me.......

"she broke your thrown and she cut your hair" means that he let this girl into his heart, even let her change him. He fell completly in love with her -"And from your lips she drew the hallelujah".

BUT he has " been here before" and knows how love can change. He says "love is not a marble arch" which i think means that love is not a perfect structure. He also says "love is not a victory march". He is basically saying when you fall in love it is not forever.
Towards the end he says that it has all changed and the love is gone- "Its a cold and its a broken hallelujah"

Radiohead – Pearly Lyrics 19 years ago
I think these lyrics are to do with ignorance of people, pushing poverty to the side and ignoring problems.

It also refers to the way people obsess over trivial things like their appearance , ie-getting perfect pearly white teeth, to avoid important issues like the thrid world.

The girl in the song "runs from the third world, pearly" meaning she opts to ignore it and stay involved in a world of blissful ignorance.

There is a constant reminder through the song that "it wont go away"

Damien Rice – Cold Water Lyrics 19 years ago
From the repitition of the line
"lord can you hear me now?"
it sounds to me as though he desperatly wants for god to exist but there is never EVER any reply no matter how many times he asks. He is surrounded by cold water (so he is obviously getting no comfort from asking this question meaning he does not believe that god exists at all).

The line "all i've got is your hand" i think refers to the way anyone you have in your life just hangs on a thread and can be so easily lost (float away)

Yes its very depressing sorry..........but to me it says that you are on your own in this life and there is probably nothing at the end
