| The Flaming Lips – Watching the Planets Lyrics

It seems that this song is about watching the planets, all of outer space at night and realizing just how small and unimportant we are on the grand scale of things. It is lucky that we exist in this universe, and we must embrace it. "Killing the ego" refers ridding your mind of stupid shit such as religion, as the "burning the bible" line refers to. It's saying simply love yourself and the fact that you exist, because life is short and amazing. |

| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Y Control Lyrics

Ugh. It is not "Y" control as in a chromosome.
Even though it is written that way in the song title, it really means "WHY" control. As in asking the question, "why control?"
Why must we live the way we live? Because society has made accepted standards. It decides what is considered good and evil.
But really, who is society to say? When it comes down to it, we are just animals. Why must such controls be put on us?
If you look at the video, it's very similar to Lord of the Flies. The kids have no adults to teach them what is accepted to be right and wrong, and chaos ensues. When really, it's just human tendency. |

Watch the video. The boy does a different dance than the rest of everyone. He blocks the second slap from the girl, and everyone is free to dance to a new dance as they wish.

| Marilyn Manson – The Death Song Lyrics

I think "The death song" is referred to as living the one life that you have to the fullest potential, as opposed to following all of the "rules" of Christianity with the blind hope of there being an afterlife (future). We've got no future = We've got no afterlife, so make the best of this one |
