i remember listening to this record in vinyl in 1994. getting stone. warming up for the nightlife. smoking dope and drinking brazilian cachaça to save the money for the indie nightclubs. it was really cool to grow up in sao paulo in the early 90s. this song has a really diffrent meaning to me, as it reminds me my youth. first trips on acid, speed and other drugs. drugs i stop taking, i am 30 yrs old now. |

i am brazilian, and in 1995, when 'kids' was released here, i was 16. i was a skateboarder too. i live in sao paulo, almost the same size and the same features of NY, so i could see myself in that movie. i know how you guys feel. i am 30 yrs old now, and i still can remember leaving the movie and heading straight to a cd shop to buy the kids soundtrack. i still have it. and in the soundtrack i discovered sebadoh ( which is on my top ten bands ever ), slint, ( another of the top ten ), the movie has changed me in a relly deep way. really intense. dense. heavy. lou hs a really strong power over me. c you guys. |

about another mo(u)rning stoner: a masterpiece. about beeing EMO or not, conrad told me in person while touring in brazil in 2001 that they were a hard rock band, so they´ve labeled themselves. about fugazi beeing EMO Ian told in an interview that if EMO is this shit he sees around Fugazi is really beyond it all, so the label wouldn´t fit to his band. althought i agree that embrace has 'created' emocore. and what about if we think about it as two different things, emocore and emo? stay cool! :) ps.: my top five bands sonic youth, fugazi, minor threat, trail of dead and shellac. |
