now...i know i'm misguided and i know the song is about the killers and wtvr. but before i knew that it really made me think of ryan and his father. how the first verse is what his father is saying to him. and i would imagine...ryan being the intricate lyricist that he is....he was always clever and a sensationalist...but his dad is all like.....being kinda sarcastic and making fun of him for it. telling hiim that ''being clever to a certain extent'' isn't good enough and pushing him to do more ''stop stalling make a name for yourself'' and the ''blacking my lungs'' thing sounds like his dad cuz he was an alcoholic...and on drugs and stuff. ryan's dad was against him going into music, and ryan is all like ''its time for us to take a chance''...and now they made it...panic meet the press..... and also, ryan is saying ''keep quiet let us sing like the doves then decide if its done with purpose or lack thereof"...as in, don't jump to conclusions and let us do what we want.
that's not the real explanation for the song, but to me...it fits so perfectly...i haaave to wonder if this song is another one written to his father. |

yea its definitely invisible monsters. i'm actually reading it right now. i'm not done yet but i realized that aubergine dreams is a make up brand in the book. doesn't THAT make soooo much more sense? imagine how confused i was not knowing it was a makeup brand!
also, one of the choruses in the book is give me...wtvr, just like ulovesaboomboxx said. and at the beginning evie shoots brandy, hence the beginning of the song. and also, in the book, from what i understand...isn't brandy actually shane...so maybe ''boys will be boys''...is like...sarcasm cuz the guy had a sex change. and also....in the book they're models, and they don't chose their parts but they ''play it and make it sincere'' it talks about how since they're models, they're so used to portraying emotion for a camera that it almost feels awkward doing it alone. so everytime they walk around or wtvr, they pretend its a photoshoot...."this is screaming photo op" |

aaaaaaaaaw....that's cute!!! the fact that they wrote a song about a real person and not just some random figment of their imagination. and they're hot. this is a nice song. but the chorus could be 'better'. and to all those ppl who post bad things about the song.....why bother wasting ur time typing it all out if u don't even like the song? |

i personally didn't like busted's version, it was so perverted it almost made my eyes bleed. the jonas bros are amazing, i love them. and nicks voice just keeps getting better and better as the song goes on. i like this version of the song much better. not my favorite song, but its very good, and catchy as lucyinthesky said. |

there are only a few songs that really have meaning to them, and most of the songs i hear on the radio don't have that much to them...they're just some pop fluff....but this is different and refreshing. I LOVE PANIC! i can't believe they write these songs, that...is....TALENT. geniuses!
when i first heard this song, it almost seemed like she cheated on him, cuz he seems really mad. not the 'things didn't work out' mad....but the 'i can't believe u did that'......and when he says "when the shock sets in and the stomach acid finds a new way to make u get sick"...its kinda like when he first found out. and then he's saying how she's giving into the pressures of society or something 'harlequin girls'...by being foolish and sleeping around.
gosh, these message boards!!! i think one thing about a song.............read all the posts...then i realize that i've been understanding it wrong. and the fact that she broke up with him makes a whole lot more sense. |

aaaallll rite!!! i think i got it. so if we're speaking metaphorically about the 'goddamn doors'.....at first he says ''havn't u ppl ever heard of closing the goddamn door''....then he realizes...cuz he says ''no''.... that its better to face 'these' kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality....and don't forget hope. so his bride is a whore. and the wedding has happened, he's just saying....with poise and rationality that he's not denying it (although at first he was cuz he wanted to 'close the goddamn door' on the fact) .......he's not denying it cuz he's FACING 'these' kinds of things.
he later says that 'its much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of hope'.....so he's facing it, with poise, rationality, and hope, although he first thought about METAPHORICALLY closing the door on the issue. |

i'm thinking the WAITER says ''wut a shame the poor grooms bride is a whore", cuz its like a convo. u no sometimes when u read a book, and its a fast paced convo, they don't mention who says wut. ur just supposed to know. so the bridesmaid says its a beautiful wedding, the waiter replies (kinda like for kicks, cuz he barely probably knows the bride) that the bride is a whore.
and also, is he gonna marry her or not? cuz if the waiter says it, he shouldn't take his word for it. and when he says ''our marraige is saved".....u don't ''save'' a marraige by cancelling it! |
