| Hot Chip – My Piano Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Nice song, but I'm a bit confused as to who exactly this "piano" belongs to...? If it even belongs to anyone at all? And I'm not sure whether I should leave it alone, or maybe mess around with it or break it or something. Kind of vague on those two points....Also could use a hook. | |

The first verse reminds me of a memorial, releasing balloons into the air...since it's a commemoration of a specific event, it takes place on a specific date. The second reminds me of visiting a grave. It seems like (in my experience) you'd visit around the same time every year, but not necessarily on a specific day. So it begins with two reminders of death, then goes on to point out various dangers ("watch your step/take good care/etc"), then finally comes out and says out loud what's kind of been running in the background the whole time: "be careful". I'm pretty sure the previous two comments are right, and I think the very end of the song goes: I hope that you would be careful The stories you told were awful I hope that they aren't just artful I hope that you would be careful. It sees to me the song is thinking about death and worrying over the well being of someone you care about... One line that confuses me is "I remember the way it fell through/You were all we all could do"...not sure what that means. |

| Hot Chip – Don't Dance Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I'm pretty sure the first verse is "Denounce the evil men Pray for their lives to end Smash their gaudy thrones Dance upon their bones" in the third verse, I think it's "Somebody dragged me here on back of wild horses" and near the end, it sounds to me like "Who can see, who can see is there an exit here? I believe, I believe we will leave this fear" |

I hate to double post, but isn't it "Colours are where my brain finds /glue/" and "Bursts of /glocks/, stickle bricks"? Maybe? Also, for what it's worth, I've been thinking more about the meaning, and the two verses really remind me of how I feel about music. I find it vitalizing, stabilizing, all-encompassing, and addictive to the point where I'll blast a song until my eardrums are sore or dance until it feels like my legs are about to fall off. And to me, the chorus seems to express the simultaneous simplicity and utter beauty of music. I feel like it's this massive gorgeous force that can never be fully comprehended or articulated, so you just get this chant of "Colours and colours and colours of colours/Covers and covers and covers in colours" (colours being a symbol for creativity or beauty or what have you). Anyway, the song's got a very personal meaning to me, if you couldn't tell... |

Haha, I can't believe you wrote the words out for the backwards part! That is amazing. Well done, too. Anyway... I think the first lyric might be "It's me versus you alone" ? And I believe it's "You're way bigger and trained", rather than "weigh bigger than a train" (if you watch the video, it shows a text from James Murphy that uses that phrase) Also, I'm not sure what he's saying in the last line of that verse either, but I thought it might be "in my burly brains"? I don't know, just throwing it out there. |

| I can totally see where people are going with thinking this is about drugs of some sort. But doesn't it seem a little redundant, if it were about ecstacy or acid or what have you, to say "Bursts are where I find my fix"? It's like saying "Dogs are like domesticated animals that walk on four legs and bark." (Because "fix" generally refers to drugs of some sort.) | |
| Harry and the Potters – The Godfather (Part II) Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think this song really conveys the shock of Sirius Black's death well..it was so sudden, and it didn't even seemed like he really died, he just fell through some veil... It's only four lines, but it's brilliant, and perfect. I love it. |

| The Fiery Furnaces – Birdie Brain Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I love how phonetic the Fiery Furnaces' lyrics are. They sound so good, even if you don't know what they mean. Like "clickity clattle" and "whistles whoozy", they're just fun to say and hear. It does seem like it might be a criticism of how humanity has negatively effected all other life on the planet, but then, it also might just be a really lovely way of saying noisy trains and planes are annoying..Good stuff, either way. :) | |
| Field Music – Tell Me, Keep Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Ah, I love this song. Its so vulnerable and straightforward, its not something you'd even really say, it sounds more like what would be implied, or what you'd be thinking really loudly at the other person or wishing you could say..I don't know, its a lovely song, though. And a great band. | |
| Maxïmo Park – I Want You To Stay Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I think by 'a mesh of tones' he means a bunch of different emotions are in her expression, so he can't quite pick out what specificlly she's feeling.. but yeah, an amazing song, goes without saying. I was so glad when they released it as a single. Although radio edits are evil. |
