Man, been listening to this song for almost a decade, and I'm so going to be listening to it in another 35 years when I'm a grandpa; I dread to think what shit all the youngin's in that era will be listening to, but at least we'll still have little gems like this track! =P Anyway, slightly exaggerated analogy, but the lyrics make me think of a person who's locked in a mental asylum, potentially violent and/or psychotic... It seems far less about drugs, and more to do with people seeking to enter your mind and/or alter you against your will. --- "Drug me, infiltrate my never land" "Like the flood tide drowning the shore" >> Neverland = a place (in the mind?) where only children can go. >> Floodtide = societal conventions & norms; pressure to "grow up" and embrace the "single accepted reality that we live in". >> Because I dislike most religions, the "drug me" part makes me imagine such people brainwashing young children and warping the minds of the mentally vulnerable. "Drug me, you're all over me" "Watch my blood begin to boil" >> Vocalist feels smothered, doesn't want to conform to the "closed-mindedness", (or realities) of others, and thus feels pissed off that they're trying to transform him instead of accepting him identity-wise. He's spending too much time within his own mind (entertaining childish fantasies and such), and not actually getting anywhere in real life. >> He believes he can still get somewhere and achieve great things, but ultimately he will continue the cynical cycle (which is the beautiful chorus) indefinitely - because that's his world, and the reality in which he prefers to live. --- tl;dr - When I think of this song, I like to imagine 'happiness/energy' as a scale (-10, -9, -8 ... 0 ... +8, +9, +10). Personally, when I'm "minus", I retreat from the rest of the world into my own mind (or own world; consisting of this song turned up loudly + alcohol) in order to recharge and bring myself back up to an acceptable level. In other words, there's a balance between one's "inside" and "outside" world. A lot of people resort to drugs (Inc. alcohol) in order to catalyse this process. If one's "outside" behaviour isn't considered normal, then others probably won't accept or understand it - and will instead try to 'correct' it by offering suggestions and voicing negative/opposing opinions. to me the song is about maintaining a balance of identity and alterity; between self and non-self. The singer is heavily favouring the former at the expense of the latter, evident in the expression that there is still "one seat left" - believing he can still achieve 'outside' greatness despite his 'inside' lifestyle. |

Blatantly talentless and boring song.. Family member keeps playing his trashy music almost every single day, I woke up at 2am to them playing this junk on their stereo a few nights ago; it was pure torture.. I've heard him mention that stupid pole-dancing stripper in 90% (or more) of his songs, and coming from someone who hasn't tuned in to a ratio station for over 3 years, it's kind of sad that I managed to pick up on that fact; really only goes to show that their knack for songwriting is a step below that of their their vocal "talent." I have nooo idea why a lot of you people like this "music." |

In the end, it's her (as well as any other woman's) own damn fault for choosing an @sshole who wronged her. Too many women put themselves through this exact same process, because they "go after the one they wanted" who is more than often a complete jerk, and they're either too naive or too blind and stupid to realize it; you fall for his lies. All the while, the decent and caring people, like me - who are actually a LOT more pleasant when they're not being dragged into the stereotypical guy category, and berrated because of poor womanly-judgement - are either in relationships with women who sound incredibly not unlike the men in this song, or they're single and don't date because they're smart enough to realize that people are selfish and destructive backstabbers. If women opened their eyes a little more and actually made a conscious effort to understand guys, (it's not bloody hard, I understand women perfectly), then they wouldn't be repeatedly lining themselves up for heartache in the long run. You'd also know which guys are jerks/players and which guys are empathetic and understand you. The only good thing about this song, is that it convinces the broken-hearted listeners to pin the blame entirely on their other half; which may temporarily makes them feel better or recover slightly faster. Or spend $15 on an album they'll never listen to in the future, as to further fuel the career of one the worst artists in existence. :3 |

How can he wish to become something (which you just stated) that he already is? Made me think "Wtf?lol" -- It's about drugs, and (from what I can pick up), Focusing on the positive things in your life. forget the lesser things that hinder you, Leave the negatives behind.. I really like how their lyrics turn out in the end, they write them in swedish and translate them into english,(I think), which makes it even harder to understand. "Electric spine - open mind." At first I took one look at this title and thought "That sounds pretty crappy, I won't bother listening to it." But yeah It's a really good song, lots of lost emotion. -- - -- The emotion feels almost as if he died, or has left it all behind. Emotionally Unstable. singing as if he's looking back into the past, it really paints a picture.. For me anyway. --- Don't ever judge a song by its title, before even first litening to it! |

Well I agree with sfxsigma, mainly because I can't be bothered shuffling through the previous 25 pages of context. It's all in the script, "Haven't you people ever heard of closing a goddamn door?" It can be Either; 1. He is offended upon hearing this, causes an ebullition, in turn, stops, thinks, *No, it's better to face 'these' kinds of things 'with a sense of poise and rationality'..* 2. She is infact a whore, and he could be referring to "Closing the god-damn door" metaphorically, as a form of redemption. 'closing old doors.'
