So... my boyfriend at the time, now my ex. got the chinese symbol for "Swim" on the inside of his forearm the day after we broke up. He went with my good friend to the tattoo shop. I asked her the meaning of it and she couldnt tell me. a week later she comes up to me and tells me that while her ipod was on shuffle the song "swim" came up by the artist "Jacks Mannequin" which he's completely obsessed with. Like literally, obsessed. Hes IN LOVE with Andrew. I dont see it. So i look at the lyrics and i think its fucking ridiculous that he gets this song tattooed onto himself the day after he decides to break up with me. So what do i think this song means? apparently when you break up you gotta keep your head up. The memories are going to hurt like bullets but you gotta stay stronger than that. that the world may seem tough now like theres an absence from the sun.. but you gotta keep in mind that time will heal and there will be brighter days in your future. how fucking gay. i remember him telling me he wanted to get the starry night tattooed onto his arm like andrew. how unoriginal. but that just goes to show the level of his obsessiveness. |

lets take personal example and see if people agree or not that it fits into this song: this guy and i adore each other. i tell him all the time i like him and would love nothing more for him to commit. we're really good friends and have been for quite a while. but because of past experiences he refuses to get into another relationship. and even though he likes me so much he just cant bring himself to do it. i don't understand whats so hard to commit if hes gone this far already. he always apologizes for not being able to explain it to me. yet we're still good friends. so it kills him knowing how much he is hurting me. and even though it hurts we refuse to let go. |

i've been sitting here trying to figure out what the hell this song means. i know it sounds good and its entrancing but the meaning? he liked a girl; got a child out of it. things didn't work out and they're not together. by the sound of it he doesn't give a shit what goes on in her life now. that may not even be close to the meaning i was trying to take a stab at it. |

Its about heartache. He misses his past relationship and keeps holding on to these hopes and dreams that he knows for a fact wont ever come true. Hes trying to get over it, but cant. He WANTS to get over it, but his mind just keeps wandering back to her. It heartwrenching. This song always makes me cry for some reason. |

Why didnt he stop me? We were happy in the beginning of the relationship. We were engaged! But the arguing just never stopped. The fights continued. I couldnt take it anymore so I packed up my things and moved back home. We both cried that day knowing that we never wanted this. We were supposed to grow old together. The wedding was next year. But he didnt stop me. He let me leave.. He put this song on his myspace. It fit the situation so perfectly. I cry everytime i hear it. I miss him and if i could i would take it all back. Redo every argument. But its too late. Whats done is done. I walked out that door and now we'll never be together again. I guess we're both wishing we'll find happiness again one day. |
