| Castanets – No Light to Be Found (Fare Thee Faith, The Path Is Yours) Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I am pretty sure the verse goes like this: But he had no anchor For you or for me And, babe, I swear That man never even known the sea |

| Menomena – Muscle'n Flo Lyrics | 19 years ago |

| Built to Spill – Randy Described Eternity Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| im so confused as to what the last few lines are meant to mean, but still, this track opened up what is quite possibly one of the best albums ever made, and is probably the strongest track on the thing. that is saying something. | |
| The Stone Roses – I Wanna Be Adored Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| quite possibly the most perfect first track i have ever heard. while i think the rest of the cd is pretty much in this songs shadow, that is not a bad place to be. | |
| Van Morrison – T.B. Sheets Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
you do not hear van morrison get down into the blues in nearly any recording like you hear in t.b. sheets. this song just has body that alot of his songs are missing. by far my favorite van morrison song. it is crazy how the blues just get all of that stuff out. they are powerful enough to let a man air out his memory of his dying wife. what a feeling this song evokes. |

| M. Ward – Post-War Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| god damn i am waiting for that lucky night. | |
| The Decemberists – The Engine Driver Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
personally, i think this song has to be about love, but not the nature of love that was discussed earlier. the language used does not imply that this is a love not attainable, it says quite the opposite. these two have had a deep connection, if they didn't, letting go wouldnt be so damn hard. This man is trying to move on, but the insecurity of not knowing where the other person stands anymore has left him confused and desperate, "tortured" even. "And if you dont love me let me go" should make this the most evident. In his soul he wants to get over what was shared, but this girl is just infectuous. Thats my take, but it is mainly my own personal experience. Opinions tend to differ depending on these experiences. |

| Modest Mouse – Willful Suspension of Disbelief Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
is brock an atheist? i would most assuredly say he has to be, but there is always this dichotomy in mm's lyrics that leaves one to question. this song really expresses the impossibility of a heaven and hell in the physical sense, as obviously, one will never be found. still, something about this song, maybe the title, tells me that brock still has some religous/spiritual inclinations or struggles. |

| Modest Mouse – Cowboy Dan Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
this song just exudes frustration. "cowboy dan" seems to be angry with his life on every level, hating city life (and life in general), hating his car ("cant get that engine turned over"), hating god, you name it. one thing modest mouse does so incredbily well is just writing out their frustrations into great lyrics. the middle section of this song: "Standing in the tall grass Thinking nothing You know we need oxygen to breath Everytime you think you're walking you're just moving the ground Everytime you think you're talking you're just moving your mouth Everytime you're looking you're just looking down" best part of the song, hands down. great song. |
