I think the lyrics are pretty self-explanatory. It's talking to somebody to let them know that you're always going to be there for them and believe in them even if they feel like nothing is going right in the world. 'Hey Ya' is almost a comforting term towards the person they're speaking to. The person they're speaking to has secrets and is hiding away, but the hope is that in having somebody believe in them, they will confide him/her in. |

I think it's about two people who are friends, best friends even, and one of them suggests maybe they could be more than that. To which the other person backs off, scared it'll ruin what they have. And the 2nd verse is the original person scared that he'she'll lose the other if nothing else happens. It's that friends/more then friends? route that always crops up. |
