Yea I think the "Not live past 25" part is about his girlfriend, Demri, who died in the 90s ('96 maybe?) of heart complications from the drug useage...she was only like 27 years old. |

I absolutely love this song..the music is so relaxing...but the lyrics are really sad, because Layne was being so honest with himself and telling himself that he is killing himself with drugs, and almost got through it, but they killed him in the end. Such a sad story, such talent wasted. RIP Layne |

Great, great song.
The very end is really cool, after the last "ahhh" how his voice and the music just drown out...its really creepy. |

The music is so haunting and the lyrics are pretty creepy as well. I think its just about a girl who is dead and wants to return to her childhood. |

This is a great song...
I agree with what Junkhead said. It seems Layne was pissed that that god seemed to be enjoying having him in pain all of the time and fucking around with his life. |

I dont really think it's a "happy" song..I mean the music is upbeat, but the lyrics are still pretty dark. I think its about his friends and family seeing all the things wrong with him from his drug addiction, but him trying to deny it or ignore it. |

"Plastic Man, Paper Face."
I always thought this showed how messed up he was with drugs that he was not a real person, basically.
"Candy heart, what a waste"
I think that line shows that he knew he was a good guy but the drugs overtook him, what a waste.
Those are favorite lines. |

He IS anti-drug, read some interviews as the others have said. You are not supposed to listen to just this song...sure this song is about a heroin...but the very next track on the album, which talks about how shitty he feels and how drugs have consumed his life, and wants to die because of it. You have to look at the whole album, not just the individual songs. |

My favorite song ever, on my favorite album ever, by my favorite band ever. Hehe.
Anyways, I always thought of this song as a talk, face to face with Layne's drug addicition. Although, as some people have said earlier, it seems like it would make more sense if it was about a person, I think that Layne was just personifying heroin...He was talking to heroin as if it were a person and wishes that Heroin was an actual person that Layne could make go crazy, like it did to him. He is so frustrated with himself and the addiction that he just wants to die to end the pain...that's how I look at it anyway. |
