i love this song. i really love how he repeats "i know you" really showing that he cares for her well being, and knows what she is likely to get up to if left alone to get smashed/high all the time- partying being a way for her to escape and forget her past (her dad dying). eventually though he starts to give up "You should be ashamed, What a waste, So lets have another drink. And we'll party on" and so in the end it seems as if he gives up trying to help and just joins in trying to forget the past, but he is trying to forget how she used to be. -i think at least :P awsome song |

| i love this song. not only the awsome lyrics, which like any good lyric, can have many different meanings to suit many different people, but i looove the build up in the music... how it starts so, relaxed, yet sad, and then builds to this awsome ending, where the singer sounds so determined. i could go into a lot more detail, but i won tbore people :P | |

i think this is very much about a person who tries so hard to be sinnless, tries to be as perfect as God, and then as soon as he slips up (which we all do) he crashes and burns, blaming himself, and making things worse. "I'm empty, lonely, and accused Accused without a word" i think this is how the person feels when they are in sin, without God, and no one actually says anything about it, but they knows deep down, that they have really fallen far away from who they want to be like (god) "I'm so lost, lost and confused I threw it all away How can I be beautiful When I am so afraid" here the person is now that the person doesn't have God directing them in their life they are lost and afraid, and wonder how God would still think they are someone worth taking back and loving the next verse shows them starting to realise that they need God back in their life, and needs to be filled of the holy spirit. which in turn, will destroy the sin that has been growing inside of them. the person needs to stop being afraid, and start trusting god, even though they are still a little afriaid. and finally, they know that they are wasting every moment without God. and that God is the only one who can save them from the state they are in. well that's atleast how i interpret the song, but thats the awsome thing about well written lyrics, they can often change their meaning to suit different people :) by the way, this is one of my favourite songs by skillet, i love this album in general :) |

this song is so beautiful and perfectly descibes many different types of relationships-and that is just one reason for loving it. my boyfriend and i both find this to be 'the song' that reminds us of eachother-and it just makes me happy listening to it :) |

first of all, i dont understand why their were so many comments posted with people arguing over what genre the band is, peoples love/hate for goths etc. silly.. ok now here is my interpretation of the song. -the first verse is introducing the male in the story. -the second verse is introducing the female who seems to be preparing the male, her current love, for a story he may not wish to hear- one that will break the lie she had been telling him of her virginity. "Deep into a dying day, I took a step outside an innocent heart" she is telling him that one night she did 'something' that wasn't innocent. "Prepare to hate me fall when I may, This night will hurt you like never before" here she is preparing him for the hurt he will feel after he hears her news. -the prechorus is just her basically saying how she feels.. that it was hard for her to get over her old love, but how it's even harder for her to get past this lie, and tell her new love the truth -here the male comes back and shows his full nature, his lust for virgins particularly. -here the girl is again explaining to him about the night "I'm going down so frail and cruel" is showing how wide open she is leaving herself as she tells her love the truth, and yet how cruel her truth actually is "Drunken disguise changes all the rules" she is trying to gain some ground by telling her love that she was drunk at the time, hoping it will hurt her love less. - prechorus and chorus have same meaning as before -here we have the guy again, trying to say that he really isn't that crazy, he isn't a killer, but just 'loves' virgins. when he calls himself a hypocrite im guessing he is saying that he is a hypocrite for being angry at the guy who stole the females virginity, as he often does it a lot. "13th disciple who betrayed me for nothing!" is a referrance to the bible, and the man who betrayed jesus for money, which enibitally was what made jesus hang on the cross. here what the guy is saying though, is that it is even worse, because this guy had no reward for taking the females virginty. -here the girl is describing yet again how she lost her virginity, how the night had started with an innocent dance, which eventually turned into much more. dark is probably meaning bad, beauty always comes with dark thoughts is probably talking about lusting over the guy she had been dancing with. -again the chorus has the same meaning as before -the repetition of 'i wish i had and angel' over and over again is his anger at the fact that the girl he was sleeping with was not a virgin, and how he really wished that he had a virgin. |

this song is very beautiful. i do believe it is something to do with suicide considering the first verse "One more night To bear this nightmare What more do I have to say" and how in the chorus it states "Should I dress in white and search the sea As I always wished to be - one with the waves Ocean Soul" i also love how nightwish uses the phrase "ocean soul" in so many songs, and how that once you have listened to this song and made that connection, it becomes a lot easier to understand other songs. i also love how it links the songs together, i really love bands that not anly are about to make sepereate stories in every song they write, but actually are able to make one big story out of many songs. |

first off, this is an awsome song whatever meaning it does have. now, i'm not really sure what this is about.. but here is my attempt at explaining -im pretty sure that the first verse is about how she used to feel for him, as it is in past tense, here the relationship seems totally innocent. -in the second verse it shows how she see's herself to be to him now- maybe showing how she treats him now, how she knows that she is making things hell for him "The endless nightmare, devil's lair" -this verse seems to be trying to explain why she feels the way she does about him now "Only so many times I can say I long for you" im guessing that the fact she is describing him as a "lily among thorns" means that she believes he is innocent and harmless, and that she is the thorn holding on, digging deep... reffering to him as "prey" and saying he is amongst wolves (probably herself) is again showing how she feels for him now -now i think that this verse is referring to the fact that eventually, when she has 'finished' with him, she will leave. and eventually he will get over it, but he will always remember her. -this is the verse where the male comes in. and this is the verse that gave me my point of view on the meaning. i do believe the grave referrance is to do with the fact he had just buried her into his memory (especially as she talked about walking through his memory in the last verse), and finally gotten over the pain she caused him, when she walks in late at night (the referrance to barely warm in my bed, meaning he had just gone to bed) and he lets her come into his life again, but little does she know that she will loose her power over him, while he infact, will gain power over her "Puppet girl, your strings are mine". i also believe that by this he is meaning something probably quite brutal (i.e murder), as he sings it in a very angry way. -the last verse shows what the girl is thinking as she walks into his house/life again. it very much seems that she intends to only treat him this way "the one is for you for you only for you", and seems pretty bent towards getting him to be her 'slave' as it were "just give in and never think again". and to me the last line is very ironic, as i belive that by "I feel for you" it is saying that she pitys him, when really, after what we heard the guy thinking, he should really be the one saying this :P |

i think this song is about a guy who is at a party, probably drunk, and meets up with an ex or something, who is also drunk, and they begin to flirt and dance together. but he starts to sober up after a while and realises that what he is doing... and obviously doesnt want her to be happy, infact he wants the opposite "I dont wanna fuck you. I dont wanna touch. I just want to fill you with regret" but he says that he has said it all before and that it's pointless, like he gives up on trying to make her regret what she did, and keeps dancing with her... well thats my interpritation anyway... awsome song :) |

what i love about this song is it can easily be about God or a boyfriend or girlfriend. i mean i know lately i have been feeling like this sooo much, especialy the first stanza, especially "I'm too close to see you, too far to touch" i recently broke up with my boyfriend.. and i still care for him heaps, but i have to lose these feeling.. so im too close to see him... but too far to touch him (coz im not going out with him anymore) "I am too scared to choose, scared to refuse" i think if your thinking about this song in a 'religious way' this is meaning that this person is too scared to let God take control of his life, but is scaredto refuse because he knows that God is real and what will happen to him after death if her refuses... i could go through each line and explain what i mean, but i wont lol, there is just a general over veiw |

"I've tried to hide, but I can't sleep at night" tried to hide from the reality of God, but they can't stop thinking about things they have heard that he has done or things they maybe have seen change in people around them when they get a relationship with Him. "we want the truth, give us the absulute, we need your help coz we've got nothing left to loose" they have been trying to solve everything their own ways and have now hit rock bottom, and so all they are interested in now is the absulute truth (God) "Don't talk if you aren't going to tell me the truth Don't tell me you know, you've got everything under control" backing up what i said about them not wanting to know anything but the truth, they dont want to hear anymore lies "We can't have it all, but we can break the fall This time I'm letting go 'cause I can't take it anymore" someone has told them that you'll never be totally free from pain or whatever, but when you have God you can atleast have help in times like that. they are finally letting go and accepting Christ because they know they need Him in their life to help them through. there is my imput on this awsome song :) |

i love this song heaps.. i think its about a guy who maybe let his girlfriend down in some way.. and they had broken up as a result of that, but since then he has realised how much he loves her and he has changed himself from then, he is promising to help her, promising that if she has trust in him that he will never break it, or hurt her from it "I'll build your trust and it won't hurt at all" but he obviously hurt her too much "And everytime I pass you on the street you won't even turn and look at me I never would'vethought that things would go this far" and the rejection he is getting from her is the perfect "art of breaking" this song is awsome |

i love this song so much, it nearly made me cry when i first heard it.. as others have said i do believe it is about someone, whether it be a bf, gf, or God who really cares about this other person and wants to help them "Despite the lies that you're makin Your love is mine for the taking My love is just waiting To turn your tears to roses" i think this particular line is very important to the song and is saying that they know the one they care about is lying about being ok or fine or whatever (as lots of people do even when they arent) and they want to help, but cant till the other stops lying, but when they do stop lying, they'll be there to help take the hurt away with their love. very beautiful... p.s "When darkness comes I'll light the night with stars" my favourite line in the whole song happy listening :) |
