i think the meaning of this song is very clear. the moth symbolizes himself, and he has become a mess because he went after this girl who was very sweet to him, and then he was hurt by her. where it says "say my dear, is this familiar?" he is asking her if she sees the way their relationship and the moth metaphor relate to eachother. and the last verse, "i apologize, but i must avert my eyes from the light" he is kind of saying i'm sorry but i have to leave because it hurts to look at you. beautiful song. :) |
