For those of you who don't there is a political undertone in this song are very naive. And I would not go as far as to call artists cowardly or playing it safe to stay away from politics either. There are plenty other contraversial topics on which to take a stance. And who said anything about songs having to be contraversial in the first place. And I am losing more and more respect for John Mayer as an artist. I will give him an that he has a good and original sounding voice, but his melodies and everything else have got to be questioned. Each song sounds a little bit like his last. And before I said this song had a Jackson Five feel, I apologize. This song is absolutely a Curtis Mayfield rip-off. Check it out for yourself. I couldn't agree more with hatendency, it sux when artists get political. This is definately an anti-bush or anti-republican song. To all the artists out there stay away from politics.

The great thing about Coldplay and other great artists is that their songs have lyrics that can have multiple interpretations. Almost every Coldplay song can have something to do with love or self vision. As for the drug interpretations do not put it past them. I know for a fact that they at least smoke chronic, if anyone else owns the dvd you can see them getting ripped before one of their shows. And acid I wouldn't count that out at all. |
