| Radiohead – Stop Whispering Lyrics

This song was actually written in dedication to Radiohead's idols The Pixies. When the Pixies first started, no one liked the new sound, which is described by the verses. It was a firm belief of their's, however, to play the music they played and to lead the indie movement of that time with screams mixed into laid-back surf sounds. Regardless, the song was written through the Pixies' inspiration. |

| Dinosaur Jr. – Little Fury Things Lyrics

If you think about it, it's about him stalking someone (as dark as Dinosaur Jr.'s lyrics tend to be). "A rabbit falls away from me" signifies the break up, and he crawls after her (as she is represented by a rabbit which hops around on the ground). "A rabbit always smashes me" is her trying to keep him away with force, but he continues to crawl after her. "Try to think what's over me" suggests his lack in control of his habit. And her running faster than he crawls simply states that he'll never have her again. The opening represents the girl calling out in fear or anger (or both), and the middle part talks about how he stretched the situation out and made it worse, and how he made her angry by keeping any new suiters away by telling them her lies. The middle part is hard to interpret, but it's definately a song about a stalker. |

Everyone ponders the meaning of life. So much so that no one would believe you if you thought you had the answer (I wanna see their faces turn to backs of heads and slowly get smaller). We shouldn't think about what life means, we should just LIVE. It's written in a told-you-so rub-it-in-your-face way, which is awesome considering the viewpoint of the song. Last but not least, it is implied that even if you sought the meaning of life it would most likely take up ALL of your life to find it. It's a dare, and kind of comical if you put thought into it and think of all the good stoner times you've had with your friends. |

It's sad that no one else has commented this song, but I'm glad to take a first shot at it's meaning. I believe that it's a song about a criminal thinking in his jail cell (as implied by the second verse). He agrees that he should be locked away in the first verse, but he can't quite put a finger on what's been bothering him so much: everyone's turned against him... all of his heroes (whether they be comic book superheroes or admired celebrities) speak out against the actions he commited, and the ones "selling his heroes" are the people who put him away or convicted him. The chorus states that at the time he had been convicted, it had been a tragedy, but now it's a legend that goes down in history.
It could also be said that he was innocent. That the courts that convicted him "sold his heroes" and turned everyone against him... you could go either way with it. |

| The Flaming Lips – Talkin' 'Bout the Smiling Deathporn Immortality Blues (Everyone Wants to Live Forever) Lyrics

"Everyone wants to live forever thinking that it'd be a lot better" is pretty straight-forward. No one wants to die, and we'd all think it'd be better if we never did. Coyne also suggests that maybe we do live forever, and implies reincarnation (if I've lived a thousand times before) which is a typical acid-head ponder. He also says, however, that though he, like everyone else, fears death, he would fear living forever even more (as living forever is the recurring theme of the song). In other words, wouldn't you rather die after leading a single satisfying life rather than living through countless disasters and deaths? I know I would. |

Actually, the guitar noises symbolize the hopping more... wouldn't you think? This song is from the Lip's acid days. It has little meaning with an exception to random analogies. The beauty of the Lip's music back in those days was that it was to be taken very literal. It provided great imagery along with their great music. This song is one of my favorites off of the "Hit to Death in the Future Head" album. |

I do believe SmackMasterPhillips was on the right track. However, it's the other way around. The pin in the backbone is simply a way to represented a building relationship, as if to say pin-by-pin all the way down. The "spoke it down from there" bit is easy, because words are normally a necessity in a relationship. "Lost your friction..." refers to the lie itself. He blames himself for allowing himself to get hurt by the girl, thus "You're not the one who let me down" and the "Thanks for offering" part states that she HAD, in fact, done something that hurt him. It's also apparent that he left the girl when he says "It's not a voice (as in a voice in her head) and I'm not around, but thanks for picking it up on the radio (to state the song is for her). The rust pouring from the faucet represents all the lies that had built up on the magnet in his head, the magnet was "extra thick, extra long (an analogy to Pinocchio perhaps), the way it was wasted (having wasted the magnet is what he blames himself for). And of course, after a break-up, things tend to get weird, but he wants to make it clear that it's not his fault. "You're the favorite lie" states that she is simply a fake, and "the web in front of a favorite lie" is her getting caught in her own lies, as lies do build up to a point of no escape. The song also suggests that she kept her mouth shut about it, but when it did come up, she messed up on the lie, thus "and a mouth kept shut, and a tongue twist tie". To sum it up, because she let her lie build up (after keeping quiet for so long), when she tried to lie about it she screwed up and got caught in her own lie. |
