Kashmir – Gorgeous Lyrics 14 years ago
According to the lead singer of Kashmir, Kasper Eistrup, this song was written directly to one of his close friends, who was ill of cancer at the time The Good Life album was being recorded. Sadly, he eventually died from his illness.

I agree that the lyrics actually say "with Mia above the cloud", however to interpret it to be bulimia because they make lasagna might be over-reacting..

Like many other songs by The Knife, the content is very esoteric, referring to the singer's own experiences in life. I think a lot of the content is actually quite literal rather than symbolic, it just only makes sense to Karin Dreijer. That's what makes the music so mysterious and beautiful!

I agree that this song is about a prostitute and I think it is much less vague than many other of the Knife's songs.

The Knife – The Captain Lyrics 18 years ago
I believe this song is literally about wars, probably wars of the West in the (Middle)East.

It is very vague (like all songs of the Knife) and it tries not to pick any sides. Yet it is still loaded with sadness and also absurdity.

It's worth noticing how many times the word "we" is used.. By defining what "we" are, it is possible, by contrasting, to define what "they" are.
There are a lot of references to christianity connected to "we", eg. "we turn the other cheek". By contrasting that, "they" must be something else, eg. muslims. That's why it could be about war in the Middle East.

The verses "we turn the other cheek and we win" and "we turn the other cheek with a grin" are loaded with much absurdity and paradoxy. I believe it is a reference to the absurd political arguments the West uses to go to war. We don't go to war actually, we go to save the world - i.e. "we turn the other cheek and we win..."

That's what I get of this song, not saying that other people will agree. It's definitely one of my favourites from the "silent shout" album. It's unbearable beautiful.

The Knife – We Share Our Mother's Health Lyrics 19 years ago
I'm pretty sure it's mainly about the artist's homeland Sweden ["we came down from the north"].

"we share our mother's health" is refering to the welfare legacy of the country which they also question in the song.

There is a mistake in the lyrics in the chorus; it really goes
"..and when you finally came out there would still be NEW chances for you"

This song is a dedication for a person that made a crime and commited suicide.

The chorus is the singer's critique of the act of the person; the person could have gone to prison [in 10 years or so..] and come out with new chances.

In verse 3 we learn that the person commited suicide by drowning ["noticing water is friendly sometimes"]. "Yellow surprise" is a reference to the meaning of yellow as the color of cowardness.
