Bright Eyes – Landlocked Blues Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I completely agree. I think Emmylou's voice is so interesting and it adds such cool harmonization. |
Conor Oberst – Get-Well-Cards Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Minor correction, in the chorus, he says "right there, that's the postman asleep in the sand" every time, not just the last time |
Conor Oberst – Get-Well-Cards Lyrics | 15 years ago |
eh, well at least you can admit that you are an elitist prick....that alone gives me enough satisfaction to disregard the rest of your arrogant post about how you think everyone else is stupid when they don't agree with your interpretation of the song |
Conor Oberst – Get-Well-Cards Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Furthermore, the phrase "maim you like a hurricane" makes sense, maybe it doesn't say that in the song...but gwerty202 that line would not mean maiming a hurricane...."maim you LIKE a hurricane" that is called a simile, when 2 things are being compared, maiming a person is being compared to a hurricane maiming someone Maim is a verb that means to injure or cripple From what i know, hurricanes can easily hurt someone, i don't know if you are aware of what a hurricane is capable of doing to someone, but it can definitely maim a human, just like another human can maim another human.....did i break it down enough for you? |
Conor Oberst – Get-Well-Cards Lyrics | 15 years ago |
jesus christ what is with all the animosity? All these elitist posters think they are just so above everyone else...calm down all you indie elitists, some of us are sick of your bullshit posts, take that stick out of your ass |
Conor Oberst – Get-Well-Cards Lyrics | 15 years ago |
name or maim both make sense i spent a good portion of time listening to that part of the song to figure out what it says...tyyger was right, he definitely says "maim you like a hurricane" |
Conor Oberst – Milk Thistle Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Some minor corrections: Milk thistle, milk thistle Let me down slow Help me go slow I've been carrying on I'm not scared of nothin' I'll go pound for pound I keep death on my mind Like a heavy crown If I go to heaven I'll be bored as hell Like a little baby At the bottom of a well Fair child, fair child How are you man? Did you fix that storefront? Did you start that band? Don't be scared of nothin' You go pound for pound You bring peace to midnight Like a spotted owl I'll be rootin' for you Like my favorite team If somebody sweats you You just point 'em out to me All the sights and sounds This little world's too crowded now And there's only one way out An elevator ride Through the tunnel towards the light And I'm nowhere bound Keep going up and down Up and down Newspaper, newspaper Can't take no more You're here every morning Waitin' at my door I'm just tryin' to kiss you And you stab my eyes Make me blue forever Like an island sky And I'm not pretending That it's all okay Just let me have my coffee Before you take away the day Lazarus, Lazarus Why all the tears? Did your faithful chauffeur just disappear? What a lonesome feeling To be waitin' round Like some washed up actress In a Tinseltown But for the record I'd come pick you up We'll head for the ocean Just say when you've had enough All the light and sound This little world's too fragile now And there's only one way out But if you let me slide I'll do my best to make things right And I'm nowhere bound Just going up and down Up and down Milk thistle, milk thistle Let me down slow Just help me go slow I've been hurrying on I was poised for greatness I was down and out I keep death at my heels Like a basset hound If i go to heaven I'll be bored as hell Like a crying baby at the bottom of a well |
Conor Oberst – Moab Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Some minor corrections: I used up your compassion So I've come to make a trade You can hate me, but just love me in return And if I know where to find you, I'll stay out of your way I won't come beg to borrow all the happiness you've earned I'll just slide back down to the bottom While you make your place in the hills There's nothing that the road cannot heal There's nothing that the road cannot heal Washed under the blacktop, Gone beneath my wheels There's nothing that the road cannot heal Claro que si! They say the sun won't burn forever But that's a science too exact I can prove it watch we're crossing the state line See those headlights coming towards us? That's someone going back To a town they said they'd never, yeah, They swore it on their lives But you can't break out of a circle That you never knew you were in There's nothing that the road cannot heal There's nothing that the road cannot heal Washed under the blacktop, Gone beneath my wheels There's nothing that the road cannot heal Someone spend their precious time Trying to decorate their lives Taking measurements for some new look they want So from 1-10, 10's exactly what I am 0 being everything I'm not Tell me what you like Is it less than 5? Is it less than 5? There's nothing that the road cannot heal There's nothing that the road cannot heal When I make it to Moab, I'll get my canteen filled There's nothing that the road cannot heal Washed under the blacktop, Gone beneath my wheels, There's nothing that the road cannot heal |
Conor Oberst – Danny Callahan Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Some minor corrections: Green world, love the chloroform Front porch in the thunderstorm Controlled chaos, confused energy Stop reading the weather charts Stop counting the playing cards There's no system, there's no guarantee That the love you feel and carry inside can be passed But you try, and all you do is still talk to your plants Ask how are you getting on alone? Some wander the wilderness some drink cosmopolitans Some cold science, some glean astroplanes I can't tell where the canvas stops Homesick as an astronaut Just keep drifting, but still can't explain How the love we feel we carry inside can be passed See a brother in the gutter, you reach out your hand Ask how are you getting on alone? What gauge measures miracles? And whose heartbeat's electrical? We feign sickness with our modern joy But even Western medicine It couldn't save Danny Callahan Bad bone marrow, a bald little boy But the love he feels he carries inside can be passed He lay still his mother kissed him goodbye, said "comeback" Where are you going to alone? Where are you going all alone? |
Conor Oberst – Eagle on a Pole Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Some minor corrections: Saw an eagle on a pole I think it was an eagle Watched its' shadow fly 'cross the cement I woke up in the snow All the trees were crowds of people. No coat, no shoes, no idea where they went I followed the fence line thin Back where the yard begins My woman, she stood crying like a man Said, "where have you been Where have you been?" I thought you said that all of that was done El Cielo es azul Just don't go telling everyone Thought the kettle was a train Thought that Monday was a door frame I tried so hard to finally settle down Heard the fire pop and snap Like a tack piano rag I never could get used to happy sounds But I hope the world's exposed A cruel and elaborate hoax That convinces me to walk without a cane But what can you do What can you do I always heard that what is done is done El Cielo es azul Just don't go telling everyone The past don't ever quit There's boxes in the attic Baby shoes and taxidermy dreams While the ashes of the dead, like a dandelion head, explode and then are scattered by the breeze And it's such a long way back to all the fun I had When nothing ever seemed to bother me But what can you do Child, what can you do Sleep 'neath the stars, and toil in the sun El Cielo es azul Just don't go telling everyone El Cielo es azul Just don't go telling everyone |
Conor Oberst – I Don't Want to Die (In the Hospital) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Some minor corrections: I don’t wanna die in the hospital No I don’t wanna die in the hospital No I don’t wanna die in the hospital You gotta take me back outside I don’t wanna hear all those factory sounds Looking like the girl in the sleeping gown I don’t wanna die in the hospital You gotta take me back outside Can you make a sound to distract the nurse Before I take a ride in that long black hearse I don’t wanna die in the hospital You gotta take me back outside Ah help me get my boots on Help me get my boots on Help me get my boots back on Help me get my boots on Help me get my boots on Help me get my boots back on I gotta go, go, go Cause I don’t have long Yeah I don’t give a damn what the doctors say I don’t wanna spend another lonesome day I don’t wanna die in the hospital You gotta take me back outside They don’t let you smoke and you can’t get drunk All there is to watch are these soap operas I don’t wanna die in the hospital You gotta take me back outside Can you get this tube out of my arm Morphine in my blood like a slow sad song I don’t wanna die in the hospital You gotta take me back outside Ah help me get my boots on Help me get my boots on Help me get my boots back on Help me get my boots on Help me get my boots on Help me get my boots back on I gotta go go go Cause I don’t have long Is there still a world at my windowsill All there ever was I remember still I don’t wanna die in this hospital You gotta take me back outside Don’t know when it’s day or when its night All I ever see are florescent lights I don't wanna die in this hospital You gotta take me back outside They give me all these flowers and these big balloons But I’m not gonna stay in this little room I don't wanna die in this hospital, I don't wanna die Are the stars still in the sky Is that fat moon on the rise Feel the earth against my feet As the cold wind calls for me I don't wanna die in this hospital No, i don't wanna die in this hospital No, i ain't gonna die in this hospital You gotta take me back outside Yeah, I ain’t gonna die in the hospital No I ain’t gonna die in the hospital No I ain’t gonna die in the hospital You gotta take me back outside |
Tilly and the Wall – Alligator Skin Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I'm kind of disappointed with this song....the lyrics seem very juvenile, like they didn't put much thought into it....i don't know, it just isn't that great of a song in my opinion |
Maria Taylor – Nature Song Lyrics | 16 years ago |
UTR: “Nature Song” was written by your former bandmate in Little Red Rocket [Maria and Orenda’s first band], Louis Schefano, what was the appeal of covering that particular song for you? Maria: Louis was my first boyfriend, we went out for six years. That song is about a certain time, and it put me back there, made me think about those years. It was always one of my favorite songs, and he had never recorded it, so I asked if I could. UTR: Obviously, you’re close to Conor Oberst. What does his recent coup of the pop charts mean for the Saddle Cree |
Vampire Weekend – Campus Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i agree with muffy327 , but the "cruel professor studying romances" part makes it very ambiguous. i mean, all of the theories like muffy327's make complete sense to me, but then when it comes to the professor part, it just does not fit in at all. i definitely think it's what kelseymay said it was...just think about the professor line...maybe a professor and a student got together one night and the student is upset because the professor pretty much took advantage of the student...referring to the cruel professor studying romances. it meant more to the student than it did to the professor hence the "how am i supposed to pretend i never want to see you again" |
The Elected – Did Me Good Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i was asking whether or not you know how much of an idiot you are, "evenfunnier"! |

Chiodos – A Letter From Janelle Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Coyote Bones – Don't Lose Your Cool Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Corrections: She spoke softly and said, "I've been drinking again, but baby don't lose your cool" She promised all would be fine It's not the liquor, it's wine, so just know it won't happen again. I can't take anymore, I can't take anymore What's a man supposed to do when his woman's lost her booze And it seems like it's never gonna end Who am i to believe that bottle's a thief When we both know that it's stolen your soul I can't take anymore, I can't take anymore I just hope the drama's through I just pray the good in you will make it's way out from the dark, come back into light where we are She made everything clear And then she reached for a beer and said, "Baby, it's under control, baby, don't lose your cool" |
Gogol Bordello – Tribal Connection Lyrics | 16 years ago |
socialism |
Cursive – At Conception Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"Father Cole has done his best to console the girl More so than some neighbors deem necessary" I think those lines refer to him raping her. like.. he's "consoling" her more than is necessary. I think Tim was using sarcasm there, like he was consoling her more than he should. A.k.a- he raped her |
She Wants Revenge – Checking Out Lyrics | 16 years ago |
^ you suck at spelling too, looks like you're just a failure all around. |
Elliott Smith – Cupid's Trick Lyrics | 16 years ago |
it's funny because i was thinking maybe he's just really embarrassed about the lyrics of this song, cause it seems like he was pretty self conscious and then i read lost in twilight's comment and completely agreed. so i don't think you're an idiot regardless of what everyone else says! |
Marissa Nadler – Dying Breed Lyrics | 16 years ago |
instead of it saying "when they took your bones now" it says "when they took your bones and ran" |
Marissa Nadler – Diamond Heart Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Corrections: So do you know I'm a dancer now? With red painted lips, and a Jezebel crown? So have you heard I'm a singer now? With reliquary eyes, and a diadem frown? But I look for you, in the diamond trees, in a highway divine, deliver me. Your father died, A month ago, And he scattered his ashes, in the snow And oh, my lonely diamond heart, It misses you so well. And oh, my lonely diamond heart, It misses you, oh well. I had a man in every town, And I thought of you each time When I tore off my gown. Changes have come, And I cannot recall The shape of your face, Through the winters and falls. But I look for you, In the traffic seas, In the bars I'm always frequenting. Your father died, Some months ago, And we scattered his ashes, In the snow Oh, the days are the hardest hours of the year Oh, the days are the hardest hours of the year Oh, the days are the hardest hours of the year And oh, my lonely diamond heart, It misses you my dear. She gave me a bird, Made out of clay, So I never will forget her. And he gave me a book, Made out of wood, To fasten all the emblems. She gave me a bird, Made out of clay, So I never will forget her. And oh, my lonely diamond heart, It misses you so well. And oh, my lonely diamond heart, It misses you, oh well. |

The Good Life – Your Share of Men Lyrics | 16 years ago |
ahaha christy i also love the way he says that line, so cute |
The Good Life – A Little Bit More Lyrics | 16 years ago |
this is my favorite song on the album. and ya i agree, it seems like he liked it better when things were ambiguous, but i can relate. i mean, if i know that things aren't going to end up good, then i'd rather have it just be unsettled, so that i don't have to deal with the bad ending. i explained that really badly, but whatever haha i love tim and this song |
The Good Life – Thirty-Year Evaluation Lyrics | 16 years ago |
wasted&ready, you are so right. everyone has to feel like this a few times in their life and no one can put it in words better than tim |
Rilo Kiley – The Angels Hung Around Lyrics | 16 years ago |
let me rephrase my earlier post, she's not necessarily influenced by jenny lewis and the watson twins, it seem like it's more of her incorporating the style of jenny lewis with the watson twins into rilo kiley, which i totally agree with shoreline that she should be able to separate the style of rilo from the style of the watson twins |
Cursive – Bad Science Lyrics | 16 years ago |
not only did ted write this one, but he's also the one signing it |
Cursive – Flag and Family Lyrics | 16 years ago |

i wonder who keely aimee is. sounds like she's having some problems with life |
The Good Life – Rest Your Head Lyrics | 16 years ago |
this whole album is fucking amazing, but it seems like an ongoing theme is one night stands, something along those lines. |
The Good Life – Some Tragedy Lyrics | 16 years ago |
it's pretty evident that this is about a one night stand. he feels really lonely, and that she's all he has for the time being |
The Good Life – On the Picket Fence Lyrics | 16 years ago |
wow this song is amazing. tim kasher is genius, the whole cd rules |
Rilo Kiley – Give a Little Love Lyrics | 16 years ago |
hahaha the whole album is a mess, doesn't fit together, the lyrics are weak as hell, and the rhythms of the songs make me want to throw my ipod across the room |
Rilo Kiley – The Angels Hung Around Lyrics | 16 years ago |
it sounds like half of the cd was influenced by jenny lewis with the watson twins and then the other half is like.. pop rock or something gay |
Rilo Kiley – Smoke Detector Lyrics | 16 years ago |
this song is almost as bad as dejalo |
Rilo Kiley – Dejalo Lyrics | 16 years ago |
possibly the worst rilo kiley song |
Rilo Kiley – Close Call Lyrics | 16 years ago |
this song sucks. the whole album is a huge disappointment to be honest. the songs are so repetitive and the lyrics are very weak. |
Circa Survive – Meet Me in Montauk Lyrics | 16 years ago |
ponxis, first of all it's eternal SUNSHINE of THE SPOTLESS mind. and she doesn't say "meet me.. im montauk" clementine says "MEET ME IN MONTAUK" |
Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová – Falling Slowly Lyrics | 16 years ago |
