No Doubt – Hella Good Lyrics 19 years ago
guys relax! so nd released a song some of you didn't like. so you're disappointed. so what -someone disagrees with your opinion! i can't believe i'm seeing all this bitchiness. ppl like different things. get over it. there's no need to turn this into a trashfest. it isn't kindergarten where if someone doesn't do what you want you throw a tantrum. personally i don't really know nd's earlier stuff - however i did see their 1st european gig ever which was in paris in the summer of '96 and they were very good even if i wasn't really into the whole ska thing. gwen was a great performer and the drummer was hot with blond hair. all i can say is that i really like rock steady and i love this song. i've got good memories associated with it. yes it's pop, but with a twist. it sounded different from the other pap out there when it was released. as other ppl have said - bands change. they need to or they just get bored and split up and start sueing each other or becoming drug addicts or turn to jesus or whatever it is retired rock stars do. hopefully ppl will take my comments on board even if i'm not a crazy ass nd fan who's so into them that they listened to their rare live b-sides when they were in the womb or something mad like that. and if anyone want to get bitchy, then all i can say is that i've proven my point! even if you're anonomyous online, you should have some self-respect!! :-)

The Streets – Turn The Page Lyrics 19 years ago
i think this song has loads of references to 'gladiator' & the 2nd world war. the 1st time i heard it that was my 1st thought. apart from teh obvious mention of 'gladiators', the forest, the fire, roman, warriors & sword raised to the sky bits all remind me of the scene where maximus fights the germans in the wood. 'before the lord judges over all of us' and 'through the cornfields and lakes of blue water' to meet his wife and daughter is like the closing scene where maximus is going to heaven and you see him walking throuh fields to his wife and son. 'soldiers', '6 dark years' and victory bells are like references to ve-day at the end of ww2 where all the church bells rang for victory after 6 years of war. dunno if any of that makes sense to you. i guess it's what you read into it yourself.

musical snob - i think this line is actually 'a few mad uns light the toilets' which links in with the next line 'big beefy bouncers out to reveal us'
