Dropkick Murphys – The Dirty Glass Lyrics 8 years ago
@[MisterChainsaw:19047]

The original recording featured Kay Hanley, another beloved Boston native. She performed it with them a zillion times in the 90s, and a bunch of times since. Stephanie Dougherty atood in for Kay Hankey on the album release because Kay was unavailable at the time.

Mother Love Bone – Bone China Lyrics 8 years ago
@[BroomHilda:19000] @[BroomHilda:19000] The correct lyric is

"She's Jezebel's daughter"

"She's like a Brunhilda"

"Child of the war dead"

Jezebel was an Israelite queen who incited her husband to worship false idols, and after an unpopular war, they were thrown out a window to their deaths by their own people.

Brunhilda is a Valkyrie in norse mythology. One of the shield maidens who escorts the dead to Valhalla. In the Völsungasaga, her father was killed during a war by a rival king.

And he's definitely not saying Shrine. I've been in the audience when MLB was playing the song. Very clearly says shine, which refers to the girl from Chloe Dancer, which first appeared on their EP "Shine".

Dropkick Murphys – Bastards on Parade Lyrics 9 years ago
This song is about a middle aged drunk. Slowly, he's realized that he's hurt everyone that cares about him, and been a selfish, drunk prick his whole life. It's too late for him though. He sees these things, but he lacks the willpower to change, so he just sits at the bar in southie, drinking with the other guys who are just like him.

Casey grew up surrounded by these guys, and he's seen his friends turn into them over the decades.
