| Suede – Weight Of The World Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| Easily one of my favourite Suede songs. I would love to hear more from Neil Codling, this and Waterloo are absolutely beautiful, and nowhere near long enough :) | |
| Said The Whale – Goodnight Moon Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| the "Ok Sarah Sarah, whatever Will B. Will B" line is printed that way in the CD booklet :) | |
| The Decemberists – My Mother Was a Chinese Trapeze Artist Lyrics | 15 years ago |

i'm very certain that this song has at least a few elements from edith piaf's history [see: raised in a brothel, parent was an acrobat, tie-in with the war, etc.] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89dith_Piaf i just love this song so much though. he's such a brilliant story teller that even something so fictional sounds plausible. |

| Franz Ferdinand – Well, That Was Easy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| this song sounds a LOT like pulp. all the different aspects of it. especially if you listen to pulp's "monday morning". it's interesting. | |
| Spoon – The Way We Get By Lyrics | 19 years ago |

oh that comment failed. bad songmeaning.net, bad. i meant to add to that quote... damnit OC would you just quit already? if you ruin spoon like you ruined the killers then i'll personally inflict damage upon you. because honestly i've had enough. i don't want sick little trendwhores pretending they're fabulous becuase they listen to spoon and sufjan stevens and imogen heap and wolf parade i hate the idea of seeing them next to nelly and ashlee simpson on their playlists. its just not right. and it's not gaining them any real popularity, just whoring them out for a while before kicking them back to the pile when someone new comes along. they don't deserve that. |

| "got this song off the OC. soo good. | |
| Spoon – I Wanted To Be Your Lyrics | 19 years ago |

| Spoon – Cvantez Lyrics | 19 years ago |

after listening to this more i've decided it's my hands down favourite spoon song. telephono is by far the best spoon album, i think. thank god for re-issues! |
| The Decemberists – Clementine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
And we'll find us a home Built of packaging foam That will be there 'til after we die that's probably one of the most beautiful lines i've ever heard it's so simple and so innocent but it has so much meaning. this whole song really makes me want to hug somebody. on another note what "sweet clementine" are we hollering? the only one i really know is that "oh my darlin'.." one. i kinda hope that's it. |

| Spoon – Plastic Mylar Lyrics | 19 years ago |

i love the way he says "motion-ment" this is best listened to on the bus with headphones. just one of those kinds of songs. it holds its own. |
| Spoon – The Government Darling Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this song is basically the song that got me into spoon. it's amazing. |
| Spoon – Cvantez Lyrics | 19 years ago |
definitely hear "carpet" too. i tried to wikipedia 'cvantez' but all i got was redirected to telephono, the first album from austin, texas indie rock band spoon. you know how that goes :) |

| The Decemberists – When the War Came Lyrics | 19 years ago |

i would pay a lot of money to never hear a song mentioning babylon again. also, this song still hasn't stood out at all for me yet. that's disappointing. |
| The Decemberists – I Was Meant for the Stage Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"father be forgiving" is what sounds right to me too. kinda fits with the "mother please be proud" otherwise why would he be saying "mum, love me, damnit. oh and dad, yeah you're alright" its' a bit out of context. also yeah foyer is pronounced correctly i think it's just because its' a french word, and most people tend not to realize the french basically skip pronouncing the last half of most of their words i'm not hating on them or anything, i love the language, its' just a little confusing sometimes. this song always makes me feel so happy inside a bit rebellious, and very proud. i think it was a really neat idea, basically what gun_left_behind was saying its the anthem for anyone out to chase their dreams. |
| The Decemberists – The Sporting Life Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i agree with words&tricks. i also really like how it's a situation everyone can kind of relate to. you sit there listening to it going "ohhh yeah i know how that goes..." and it makes it all more fun. and gosh if "And fulfill all his old athletic aspirations/ But apparently now there's some complications" isn't one of the greatest lines ever written. |
| The Decemberists – The Bachelor and the Bride Lyrics | 19 years ago |
hnath, definitely have to disagree. i think the "his callouses cure her furrowed brow even now" is kind of a play on his 'calloused' hands curing her furrowed brow alright... with angry force. of course he's angry, i mean his fingers are telling of barren of her belly hence, she is unable to bear children the man can't stand that [i take the "fingers" part to also be partaking in the beating of the poor woman] while she holds on tight to the medallion you know, like you'd hold onto something pretty tight if you were feeling some godawful pain. the first time i heard this song i thought it was terribly beautiful the second time i heard it i actually listened to the lyrics those tricky decemberists. |

| The Decemberists – We Both Go Down Together Lyrics | 19 years ago |
my two cents, probably completely repeating what's already been posted, but i just want to clear things up in my head: first of all, here is the video where colin talks about it being the prequel. end of discussion. "you wept but your soul was willing" and "sweet untouched miranda" -- obviously the girl was a virgin. also, maybe i'm just naive, but i really think he loved her. he laments how their love is scorned, socially unacceptable [hence the "we both go down together"- not only a reference to suicide, but my first thought was them both going down together in social standing. that's a big deal to some people. especially those of "wealth and beauty"] they loved each other, they conceived a child, who died 3 hours after her birth hence how leslie still haunts her mum then, if we must have the suicide even though i still think the whole falling aspect is a metaphor for social decline, they jump off the cliff. it's all just speculation. somebody ask colin someday please. put our minds at ease and all. |
| The Decemberists – Of Angels and Angles Lyrics | 19 years ago |
really i think this song is kind of cute in a comfortable sort of way i think all it basically is describing is just life. no suicide, no fastpaced action scenes just life, and marriage, and love and it's just comfortable. they're in for a long life together, and they've possibly already lived a lot of that life already and he still finds "angels in [her] angles" and i think that's cute. its the little things that count. |
| The Decemberists – O Valencia! Lyrics | 19 years ago |
well even though i know this is a complete generalization i think this song might be from the girl's point of view mostly because of the line "you belong to the gang" girls AREN'T generally gang members but they do have affiliations with them. but i could be wrong. |
| The Decemberists – Grace Cathedral Hill Lyrics | 19 years ago |
when i first heard this song, i thought the line was "and the world made me long for you/ but i'll never belong to you" and it was just perfect i almost started crying and even though i learned the right lyric, everytime i listen to the song now i hear it how i thought it was hte first time because that's how this song hits me especially the way he sings it this song is definitely DEFINITELY one of my favourite songs ever. it's so beautiful and sad. it also makes me want to give colin a hug and maybe some tea and sympathy. |
