| Coldplay – Viva la Vida Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
It's a metaphore for life. It may have somethign to do w/ religion and power, but it's all based on the fact that life is a short time period. All the time spent looking for a lasting name, looking to cement a place in history, looking to rule the world is wasted time. The chorus represents this, "For some reason i can't explain, I know St. Peter won't call my name, NEVER AN HONEST WORD. BUT THAT WAS WHEN I RULLED THE WORLD." All that time spent looking was wasted. The title is viva la vida, live the life. The song is meant to make people think about what they do and how life is just life and we're supposed to live it. Find what you may in this song, but all Chris Martin asks is that you look at life as an enjoyable experience, you can tell that philosiphy by this song. |

Great job for Dez being an ass hole to Morgan's wife, I can't believe no one notices the OTHER MEANINGS of the song. A song doesn't always mean one set thing. My personal reflection is that feeling you get when you're mad at someone who breaks ties w/ you. The kid who doesn't talk to you anymore, the persong who puts you down. Enemy describes the feelings, hoping that after all they have done, after all the dust clears and your and their anger has dispresed, or you're ready to forgive after they make a move. Enemy tells me, that when you finally come to and hit rock bottom (so when you fall to the ground, and finally get back to reality). When they come to they can hopefully realize the wrongs they have done, and see who they've pissed off. Mostly it's the anger you feel toward this person after they've betrayed you, but the question is will you forgive the enemy? |

| Bloc Party – Cain Said to Abel Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I love this song and its cynical remarks at the "music icons" of today. Cain v. Abel, the bible brothers who killed themselves (though I'm not sure which one killed the other). Basically, one is the music industry and the other is alluded to famous drinking singers, oh, lets just say Jon. The lead singer Jon who goes out and parties everynight blowing his cash on hookers and beer then returns to the studio to record a CD or meaningless crap that the nation buys because its shoved down our throat. This song tells the story of the self-obsessed sinner and relates them to Cain and Abel, basically killing the good of the music industry and the bad remains. Though in the end they fade away and the new prodigy comes along to screw things up. BRAVO BLOC PARTY, an amazing song in my opinion. As of right now it's my favorite but that will change soon, all there songs are all too good. |

It's got to be my favorite off the Alpha so far. It's got a good message, talking about the youth of today (which I am a part, I feel I'm different). Our generation is a generation of entitlement, we expect to get everything, when we get out of college we expect to get a 100,000 dollar job. It doesn't work that way. I never take a thing for granted, I'll never be a hypocrite. Some of us know it takes hard work to get through life's hardships. LaJon points out the lies some of us choose to live with. Basically, those on there high horse now who get whatever they fucking want will lose it out in the end. They don't have the skills or knowledge to succeed in much of anything. I like the line "watch your fucking sunset." It's like watch this one, make it special, because tommorrow you grow up. |

| k-os – Sunday Morning Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Beat me to the words redstar. I heard it on Q101, it sounded like a great song so I got it off of Itunes. Basically, I agree w/ redstar. But from a perspective of if you hadn't read the interview, this is what I would say. Every day is saturday night, go out, party, have fun. Almost ignoring the fact that life and time continues around him. He says,"It's the same thing, back in the cold People know people come and go It bores me" Sounds like to me hes tired of the party life now, and he can't wait till Sunday morning. Assuming he's Christian (w/o reading the interview), its a chance at redemption, to start again, but I can see it's an empty promise, he drifts back into the party scene. He goes back for the music, for a certain women maybe, but most importantly because he can't stop. There's something he feels he's missing something, and the hollow Saturday scene seems to keep him around for the time. |

| Sevendust – Skeleton Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Personally, anyone can understand the song. But you reallly have to FEEL the song to completely know what this is. You will know, it's almost like the world stops just to listen to this song. It's about life to me. A skeleton is what holds the body up, the frame, the structure. That's what music is to me, and I'm sure it is to Lajon too. I feel music as my essence, I always finding myself "losing myself in the song again." It doesn't matter if your "far from right" with music, or if you love it too much. that song, whatever it is, when it comes on makes it all that much better. That's the skeleton song, the one that gives you a reason to get out of bed when it all feels like shit. I'm also fascinated by the second verse, I don't know Lajon's views on religion, but mine is this, there are way to many people in this day and age who have lost all faith, I don't care what you're religion, believe that there's something out there. I feel like it's on aithiesm, that second verse. It's saying we all feel alone and feel pain, but that pain that feels like there is nothing out there? Don't beat yourself to death, accept something and feel like you belong. Then all those people who bitch and whine/complain about there life. All I hear in suburbia is how much life sucks for the individual. Well "Never stop forgetting why you came to be here", with "everybody crying themselves to sleep" they need to live. We all have problems, suck it up. This song means so much to me, and please take time to read what's above, it does mean a lot to me. |

| Deftones – Kimdracula Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It sounds like it's directed at a specific ex of his, how he took things for granted ("don't blink tonight", kinda like how things can leave in the blink of an eye). He wanted to salvage something but only took pain away from it | |

By the way. The chorus is Thatta way, I'll always stay away from you. (I bought the CD, the lyrics are printed) It's amazing how much soul Chino can put into a song, and Serj just makes the music so haunting it's amazing. |

| Deftones – Passenger Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"I did this song with Maynard from Tool. Basically, I told him I wanted to create a scenario of being in a car and being taken for a drive when you don't really know what's going on. I wanted him to create a lot of imagery. he wrote a majority of the of the lyrics and left blanks for me to fill in. it seems like you're being held captive, but enjoy what's going on." - Chino Thank you nayr. Anywone ever think of drugs? What would you feel like in a ambulence being taken away. Still up, difting away, overdose, does this spark anything with anyone? |
