I dont mind this song. Not very often rappers get soft like this. He definetely gets his point across: the girl refrenced is simply the best. The line about her "reppin like a mascot" is one I can understand. |

I read somewhere that this was a diss song to Tupac. Relating to how rappers act like they straight killers but its all a front. |

I would say this song is about Travis' rise to power in the music industry. he talks about his first attempts at songs and how now it all finally paid off.
And to all y'all haters bitchin about lyrics, im sitting here laughing at the irony. Did you read the last 4 lines before the 1st and 3rd chorus?
"You prob thinking I’m wrong right?
Like I should quit writtin’ these songs right?
Tell you what do it better I just might
Take it back to 86 you want a lick, sike!" |

I swear, Talib Kweli has the most unique style of rapping i've ever heard. The way he goes of beat with too many syllables but always brings it back, that sh*t is crazy! |

Mos def! The internal rhymes in this song are of da hook! The RATM cover is good, but the original is unbeatable.
"I wrote the rhyme that broke the bull's back,
If that don't slow 'em up, I carry a full pack."
It dont get better than that homey... |

Fairly simple song. Talks about how life is totally diffrent when you gotta gun. Also mentions how the latinos (Represent!!) are overshadowed by the brothas. Tell me that isn't the most bad ass bass line you ever herd.. The best line in tha song is:
"Cock the hammer, wave the white banner
Ever heard a Glock go `click' like a camera?" |

The man is discusin' how he got started and all about how his style is intangible. I first herd da song on a videogame soundtrack. its one of those rare beats ya cant help but bob yo head to!! |

Let me take a position not too many people take and analyze the song without the lyrics.
The song seems like the kind of soundtrack a crack addict might have. The first few seconds, would show him huddled in a corner, muttering to himself.
When the music kicks in, it would show scrounging aroun for some a score. Then, when the music breaks to that heavenly sound, that would be when he actually gets his hit.
Then, cue the music, cuz the efect wore off and the cycle starts again. |

My first comment so i figured i'd try it on a short song. I think it's about love and the chorus is describing love; hence the verse "This is what love is" |
