He also says before playing the song for that same Rolling Stones song that it is about "washing away your sins, no matter how deep you have to dive". The song is about baptizing yourself and washing away your sins, even if it means drowning in the process would be my guess. |

The original version of this song contains only the parts where Cody ChesnuTT talks about impregnating someone else behind his lover's back (check out Headphone Masterpiece if you haven't, it is amazing). The Roots added everything else. It has always been my understanding the song is a metaphor for the birth of Rock n' Roll as a child of many forms of music, sort of the bastard child. Hannibal's religious comments are very interesting. I agree with it, however I think it is less about Jesus and more about Rock n' roll as the Messiah of music. Something noticeable in both the Roots and ChesnTT's music as they are not simply straight hip hop beats. I had never noticed some of what you pointed out aboiut the childs birth being from the soul/heart. Intersting take. One last note: Bush not Push. It is very clear on the original what he is saying. |

This is the song that got me to really listen to Trespassers William. My friend gave me some of their stuff and one day I queued all the music up on my pc and this song came on and it made really sit down and listen to the two albums I had. I really like this song, sort of a failing relationship were one of the people just doesn't want to let go. She can't tell the difference between being apart from him by a few feet (a stones throw) and being miles away because they both few the same. They both feel like the pain of being apart and all she cares about is what she can do to mend their relationship. She is blaming herself in his silence, thinking it is something she did to ruin what she wanted. I think we have all been there. I know I have. |

I get that it isn't a song about being so in love with someone it is scary. I think it is about being love with someone who just doesn't feel the same way. You are so in love with them that just having them near you makes you feel better and that is what you need, that is love. That that person makes you feel safe and happy, but in the song it is clear this person isn't around or at least doesn't feel the same. She is alone in her bed and says she can't sleep because of the cold, but it isn't a literal cold it is the cold feeling of being alone and that ache you feel. I think most of the songs on this album are about how it is to have a truly tragic romance, to really love someone but to not have that returned and how awful an experience that really is. It is something that I can painfully identify with and I'm sure I'm not the only one. |

This song pretty much is my last relationship. I was really in love with this girl and she apparently didn't care at all. She just broke it off, wouldn't even talk to me anymore. Also it is bringing ships so near not ringing. Sirens like the greek myth not like the bell. They sing a song and sailors go towards it only to run into rocks and their boats sink. And Bean is right it is definitely the spring romance line instead of what it is above. |

It might just be me but I hear entirely different lyrics for parts of this song. Instead of: "Something's flowing, someone buried alive" I think it is: "Some ghost float, some are buried alive". The ending line of the first two verses also sounds like: "Some ghost sink Some of them get called to the light" Also the line about riding the bus doesn't sound like it ends with you at all. it sounds more like: "In a bus on a bus back home we went". It doesn't change the meaning of the song or anything, just thought I would try and correct some stuff. |

Clearly about people in a relationship that isn't what it was when it started. The singer wants to keep it going, but he doesn't know what to do with the other person. So he is giving them the choice of getting back together or he will leave forever. Easy to empathize with if you have ever dated someone who didn't feel quite the way you did about them. |

| I took it be about a guy who has recently been dumped by his girlfriend. His life is going downhill so he ducks in from the rain to a wedding. He doesn't actually know the people at all, but has a good time and in the end winds up in the wedding party picture. The part about the picture on mantle I thought was like no matter how horrible his life ends up, there will always be that picture of him happy, in someone else's life. I could be wrong, I am a fairly depressing person so I might be making worse than it is meant to be. | |

| Morbadum - I have always heard argy bargy means trouble or arguing. It makes more sense in the context of the song as Terry is causing trouble by telling the truth and going against the government. I looked it up on a slang site and it said the samething. | |
