| I'm so glad someone finally put the lyrics up for this song!!! I think they are pretty accurate. I think it's "i will die in the dust for you" but I can't figure out the other blank parts. And I'm sure it's just a typo but you have "with a loaded fun in your mouth" for the first time he sings it. This song makes me smile regardless of the slight downside of the lyrics. | |

It's incredible how awesome this song is. Derek was especially obsessed with the works of Henry Darger and Darger's works inspired the cover for Tilly's 'Wild Like Children' CD too. Darger wrote a book called "In the Realms of the Unreal" whcih was 19,000 pages long, about a group of girls called The Vivian Girls ("Vivian, your life is told through 19,000 pages") The Vivians were usually running through forests ("Girl, I know the woods look dark") but whatever environment they were depicted in, they were usually on-the-go, or giving a sense of movement ("you will run, you will run, you will run"). Their secret is that they are not really little girls, they are little boys dressed as little girls, hence "your innocence has faded." And if you look in the link that mandapop posted you'll see a piece of artwork where the Vivian Girls are playing around a carpet and one of the girls is rolling in it, explaining "girl, you've been rolled up in colorful carpets." And it's interesting that they did change the line "hear the breathing of a dragon" because Darger has a painting depicting a dragon. This could be coincidence but probably not, considering the band is so obsessed with his work. And the culminating effect of this song is just incredible, i agree that is is really haunting because of all the harmonizing. It's beautiful and it's even more awesome that it's about art! :) |
