Electric Six – Infected Girls Lyrics 18 years ago
The main meaning of this song is to be awesome.
The line "feels like a fire down below" could be a reference to a burning sensation in the genitals, a common symptom of STDs.

Caedmon's Call – Shifting Sand Lyrics 18 years ago
This is a pretty straightforward song with some vivid imagery. "Thomas eyes" is a reference to Thomas who wanted to see Jesus' wounds before he would believe that Jesus had risen from the dead. The lines after that are some classic Old Testament miracles- the first two featuring Moses and the third feat. Daniel.
I don't know what "back-side glory" refers to, but "this soaked altar going ablaze" is a reference to Elijah and the prophet showdown with the 300 (i think) prophets of Ba'al. They prayed to Ba'al, but their altar didn't catch fire. Elijah soaked his altar and even filled a moat around it, but when he prayed to Yahweh (God) fire came from the sky and destroyed the entire altar, burning up the water and even the stones.

Thrice – Image of the Invisible Lyrics 18 years ago
I hope to approach this song humbly, but with boldness in the truth.

I agree that this song is about Christianity. People claim that we are twisting the author's words to fit our own meaning, but this idea is preposterous. This song is full of biblical imagery, many times paraphrasing or quoting the Bible. To deny that this song is intended to be about Christianity is to deny logic. Any other interpretation i've seen here stretches the meaning of the words a lot.

As far as personal interpretations go: the claim that there is no objective reality is one of the greatest lies of the last century. If i say "Christ is the bread of life" and you interpret that to mean that my God is a loaf of bread, you are wrong. Period. The author had a meaning that he intended to convey. If you interpret it in another way, you are misinterpreting his message. Therefore, you are wrong.

The day i meet a Christian that is self-righteous and judgmental will be the day i admit that Christians behave that way. People believe that Christians are self-righteous and judgmental because of stereotypes(lies) and because they misinterpret our love. The greatest joy in life is taking joy in the Lord. To call people to lay down their lives of sin and turn to the Lord is not judgmental but akin to taking a child out of the mud puddle in which they play for a trip to the arcade.

MC Chris – Kingdom Farts Lyrics 18 years ago
Music snobs try to prove how superior they are in their knowledge of music or a particular group by pointing out a supposed common misconception with some piece of obscure evidence, but most of the time they are wrong.

example: m d t.

no matter what mc chris says, he's a nerd and he raps. and rapping about your favorite video games is nerdy, no matter what anyone says.

Pinback – Penelope Lyrics 18 years ago
I think the goldfish might be a metaphor on account of goldfish don't have lungs.

The Odyssey interpretation is somewhat of a stretch. Also, note that the bedroom was built around the tree, but the tree was cut down because their bed is built upon the stump.

Finally, i think saosin and playradioplay's versions of this song are actually better than the original, but that's me.

P.O.D. – Abortion Is Murder Lyrics 18 years ago
Murder is killing a human.
Unborn children are humans.
Abortion is killing unborn children.
Abortion is murder. Makes sense to me.
To say that an unborn child is a "fetus" and therefore not human is just semantics.
Eat the eggs of an endangered bird and you will be arrested if caught. "It's an egg- not REALLY a bald eagle" will not hold up in court.

P.O.D. – Lie Down Lyrics 18 years ago
The chorus is based off of a Psalm, but i can't remember which one. I was actually coming here to see if i could find that out really quick, heh.

Waterdeep – And Lyrics 18 years ago
I was hoping for some explanation but dismayed to find none, so i guess i'll offer my two cents:

It's clear that the word "And" (capitalized) replaces the name "Jesus" for the last two lines of the chorus. I inferred from there that it is also meant to replace "Jesus" in the first two lines. It's strange to me because the last lines before the chorus always seem to be complete statements. The only thing i can think of is that he's saying that Jesus is the "and" in that He links God and Man.

The CD booklet says that the chorus was written before the verses, and it sure seems to stand out.

Caedmon's Call – Bus Driver Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is about the importance that each person has. Bus driver is one of the least glamorous jobs, but the singer touches the lives of a lot of people and if he just disappeared one day, a lot of people would be affected. The chorus speaks to that saying that "you" would say that the singer is "just a bus driver and what do [you] know?" The singer refers to this again, asking almost that same question of "what do i know?" The end is pretty hard to rephrase. He's saying don't believe you're JUST anything (a busdriver, cook, lawyer, whatever) because even busdrivers are important when it's time to go home.

The Postal Service – Natural Anthem Lyrics 19 years ago
I'm pretty sure it's:
"I'll write you a song
And I hope that you won't mind
Because all the names and places
I have taken from your life"

Since that makes sense in the context of the song.
